Every day, every moment of your life, you are always selling. If you can’t sell, you can’t succeed. Here’s why.
If you want to convince your spouse to go to dinner this Friday instead of next Friday, you need to be able to sell. To persuade your customer to invest in your products and services, you must be able to sell. It’s the same if you want to get the hotel concierge to upgrade your average room to the penthouse.
Being able to sell your idea, your product, your opinion, or your dream all require strong sales skills. I have mentees from my High-Ticket Closer ™ Certificate Program (HTC) who learned more than a career skill when they graduated. The skills they learned benefited their professional and personal lives.
Here are 5 ways that sales skills can improve your personal and professional life.
1. Better Communication, Stronger Relationships
Rich, one of my mentees, was initially considering the HTC program as a way to improve his ability to negotiate in business and to close deals. What he found was an improvement in his personal and professional life.
He was an entrepreneur and owner of two businesses. Two years ago, he started a brick-and-mortar food business and currently he’s growing a martial arts training company.
When he enrolled in my program, he realized that “our lives are abundant with relationships and our lives are abundant with opportunities to enhance those relationships.” He applied what he was learning both to closing deals and to current and future connections.
He noticed the program transformed the way he built relationships in his life. He especially noticed a profound difference in his partnership with his wife.
For several years, he and his wife had not been seeing eye to eye, especially in matters of business. She had successfully created her own business and Rich had his own ideas about how to run a business. They had disagreements that impacted their relationship.
However, within two weeks of the HTC program, Rich started to apply what he was learning. By week three, his wife said there was something very different about him. He was becoming a better listener and not challenging her as much. He was also starting to make more sense to her.
They came up with several pages of ideas to apply directly to their business. It was the first time they had ever done something like that. In fact, halfway through the program, Rich said she wanted to personally thank me for “being the catalyst for that change.”
It changed his life in many ways. He said “life is never going to be the same.” He expects to be closing up to 40 to 50 clients in a month and earning $20,000 to $30,000 in additional income per month.
In a year, he expects to improve the relationships with the people that matter most to him: his friends and his family using the principles he learned from the program. He says that’s “pretty exciting and pretty priceless” and I would agree.
My High-Ticket Sales program changed and improved many relationships. Katie and Thomas travel, live and work together, and after HTC, their relationship improved.
2. Travel And Work Wherever And Whenever
Katie and Thomas have been in a few businesses before and they’re involved in each other’s careers. They took my HTC program together as a couple. They’re originally from Jamaica and now they are living and working in China.
They say they have “a great level of respect and understanding for each other” and that has helped them to share a business. They are “very hungry” and wanting to grow individually and as a couple. To do that, they wanted to share the same vision.
They learned to be High-Ticket Closers from my program. Now they sell products and services at a premium price for commissions.
From the HTC program, they learned mindset “which is amazing” because it improved their positioning with customers. After learning the skills from HTC they are now in a position where they are able to successfully manage a business.
Their new skill has also enabled them to travel anywhere in the world, which was one of their goals.
They think the personal and professional development they got from HTC has helped them to impact different lives, and they have grown financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
The HTC program not only enhanced relationships, for many, it strengthened my students’ confidence in themselves.
3. Confidence And Transformation
Koi’s biggest takeaway from the HTC program was seeing the transformation of the other students in his class. He thought many came into the program with a certain identity and certain beliefs and mindset. After just seven weeks, he noticed a difference in how they presented themselves to the world.
He noticed people had gone through their Facebook profile and deleted past pictures of themselves. He found that difficult to do for his own profile because it was like “throwing away part of himself.”
The reason they were cleaning up Facebook profiles was they wanted to show a more confident and professional image on social media. How could my mentees claim to be High-Ticket Closers if they posted pictures of beer parties or dimly lit selfies?
Koi also noticed that people who were shy at the start of the program “dramatically increased their confidence” when interacting with strangers. Being assertive is a quality I teach in the program. The way I see it, you can’t close a sale if you are shy or if you can’t stand behind what you are selling.
Part of these transformations came from the support that my mentees got from their HTC family members. My students considered each other as brothers and sisters. The support is so strong that Koi noticed students did not hesitate to reach out to each other when they had problems.
“You could be having a bad day… so you go on to the Facebook group… and within the next few minutes you’re going to be showered with supportive comments about your situation.” It’s the positive environment that Koi really appreciated. There is enough negativity in the world out there.
His confidence changed how he viewed money after the program. Before, he used to think he just needed to make a little money and retire rich by living frugally. He thought that was happiness. But now, he’s got a stronger hunger for success. He doesn’t want to limit his goals anymore.
Koi also noticed a change in the relationships in his life. He’s a lot more grateful for what he has in his life. He complains less and takes more action.
Another change I noticed in my students was a new mindset. Don’t limit yourself or your future because of what other people think you should do with your life.
4. Independence And New Mindset
Victoria had lost focus of her dreams and goals when she found the HTC program. She had graduated from college and had a taste of the 40 to 60 hour week corporate world… and she was exhausted. She wanted to set herself free.
When she discovered my video about the wealth triangle and having a high income skill, she decided to take the plunge. Either she sacrificed time away from her family and boyfriend now, or she would do it later. So she joined the program.
It was a stretch for her financially. It was also a difficult situation. She was worried that her family wouldn’t support her and her friends would think she had been scammed. But she joined HTC and met a community that kept her going. It gave her a new mindset and a new sense of independence.
“You have to be open. Learn to be truthful to yourself,” she said. “Discomfort is where real growth occurs.”
5. Community Of Like-Minded People
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. The HTC community is a community of like-minded people working toward similar goals. As Koi said, if you’re having a bad day or struggling with an issue, you can post in the Facebook group, and many people will answer you with support and recommendations. You’re never alone.
Final Thoughts: Do Sales Skills Improve Your Personal Life?
You are always selling and to be effective as sales, you need to be able to listen and communicate well. When you can communicate well, you have better relationships, at home and at work.
These High-Ticket Sales skills also improves your mindset. With an abundance mindset, you become positive and more confident. That also improves your sales ratio. If you aren’t convinced about what you are selling, how can your prospect be convinced they should buy?
So always be selling and always be working on improving yourself.
