Tired of living below your fullest potential? Feeling like you’re letting yourself down, but it’s too late to change now? You don’t have enough money? Time? Instead of making excuses, reinvent yourself and make your dream life a reality. Many people are unsatisfied with who they are. They’re unhappy with their lives and feel like they are stuck. Eventually, their lack of passion for life leads to identity loss, depression, anxiety and a host of other issues.
Like most people who make excuses, these people do not realize they have a special gift. For hundreds of thousands of years, humans have roamed the Earth. Even though many other species of animals rose and fell, humans have continued to survive even to this day. This is because unlike any other animal, humans possess the ability to adapt to their surroundings faster than anyone else. This means that among all the creatures on Earth, humans have the strongest capability to change.
Now at first glance, this may seem counter-intuitive. After all, no one likes sudden changes – we would much rather have a day to day routine. But history shows otherwise –humans are able to survive in different environments all over the world. From hot tropical climates to the harsh cold winds of Antarctica, humans have the ability to change and adapt to any situation we face.
If you are feeling dissatisfied with life or how you act, you can always change. For example, if you feel you aren’t living up to your fullest potential, you can always reinvent yourself into the kind of person you want to be. If you’re tired of living below your means, here are a few tips on how you can reinvent yourself and achieve the highest level of success you deserve.
Take Ownership and Responsibility – Have a No Excuses Mindset
If you want to reinvent yourself, the first thing you need to change is your mindset. You see, most people have what I call a victim mindset. In any situation they find themselves in, they are always the victim. They are never at fault – it is always someone else who is to blame. And when things do not go the way they want them to, they blame others for it. If they are unhappy with their life, they’ll blame their boss or their friends. In reality, if you’re unhappy with your current situation, the only one at fault is you.
Think about it like this – if you blame someone else, it will make you feel better. But will anything actually change? Will you actually become a better person? Will your life magically get better, by pinning the blame on everyone around you? The answer is no.
Successful people understand that blaming others changes nothing. If they want to achieve success in their lives, they must take ownership for everything that happens. They are always looking at situations, and asking themselves – What could I have done differently? When you start thinking about all the ways you could do things differently, your perspective changes. You no longer blame others for what happens, you look inward at what you could have done differently to create another outcome.
For example, let’s say you are driving to work and you run into a traffic jam. Instead of getting angry and blaming everyone for getting in your way, think about what are the ways you could have possibly avoided this scenario? What could you have done differently, to change this outcome?
Take ownership of everything. If your life sucks, it’s your fault and you can change it.
Control Your Emotions Or They Will Control You
If you’re looking to reinvent yourself, you need to reinvent every part of yourself. That means your emotions as well. You see, having a good mindset is important. But having emotional stability is just as important – if not, even more.
Letting your emotions control how you feel is dangerous. For example, how do you feel when someone cuts you off in traffic, or if someone gives you the finger? Instinctively, your first reaction is to get angry. And when you become angry, you are no longer logical. You find ways to get back at others, and make up reasons to blame them for their actions. That leads you back to a victim mindset, which is what we just discussed.
That’s why having control over your emotions is just as important as changing your mindset. If you can’t control your emotions, every little thing around you will set you off. You will forever be a slave to everyone around you, reacting on a whim at the slightest insult they throw at you. Do you really want to be controlled in such a way, where you dive into a rage whenever someone says something you don’t like? Or would you prefer to be calm, and know that only you can decide how you should feel?
Whenever you feel yourself getting emotional, take a step back and think. Ask yourself why you’re getting emotional. If someone insults you and that makes you mad, ask yourself why in the first place does that make you mad? Why are you allowing them to make you mad and control how you feel? Getting control over your emotions is the first step to reinventing yourself.
“You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True power is sitting back and observing things with magic. True power is restraint. If words control you that means everyone else can control you. Breathe and allow things to pass.” – Warren Buffett
Stop Watching The News And Keeping Up To Date With The Latest Trends
The news is flooded with negativity. Reporters constantly talk about natural disasters, crime, and other negative events on a daily basis. If you want to reinvent yourself and achieve the highest level of success in life, stop watching the news.
Almost every single successful person I know does not watch the news or read newspapers. Unless there is an important global event happening that will affect their business or their finances, there is no reason to keep up to date with what’s going on. It is just useless information that clutters your brain.
The same goes for celebrity gossip. Most likely you know someone who seems to know everything about every celebrity. They’re always on top of the latest news or latest scandals, and never seem to stop talking about them. The question these people should be asking themselves is – how does this information benefit me? How does knowing Robert Downey Jr gained 5 lbs make your life any better?
Instead of listening to the news or celebrity gossip, listen to podcasts or watch videos from successful people that have made it. These are people who have gone through a similar struggle and are willing to share their insight and story on how they overcome their weaknesses to inspire others to do the same.
If you want to reinvent yourself, you need to know exactly what parts you should be reinventing. Listening to successful people instead of negative news reporters will help you do exactly that. Click To Tweet
Practice Positivity And Have An Optimistic Outlook On Life
Being positive is one thing. Consciously practicing positivity is another. When was the last time you intentionally forced yourself to see a negative event as a positive one? Forcing your brain to see things in a positive light is practicing positivity.
When you force yourself to be positive, you’re telling your brain what kind of life you want. If you’re familiar with the Law of Attraction, you will know why this is effective: What you believe is what you achieve. By reframing how you see negative events, you can influence how you feel about them. For example, suppose you accidentally lost your wallet. Most people would get upset and blame themselves for doing something so stupid. Practicing positivity means telling yourself it is okay, that it is actually a good thing you lost your wallet. That means you no longer have an excuse to buy a new one. Or it means you can finally update your driver’s license to how you currently look.
Reframing negative events is a powerful way to control your emotional state. By changing disasters into blessings, you take control of your life and direct it towards the life you want. Instead of letting accidental mishaps dictate your life, you perceive those events as intentional events that are a sign you are well on the path to success.
That’s why having a positive outlook on life is very important to achieving success. Some of the most miserable people on Earth are unsatisfied with life because they are extreme pessimists. They are always putting others down or claiming ideas won’t work before they’ve even tried them. If your pessimism is affecting your quality of life, it’s time to reinvent yourself and change your perspective.
Exercise and Move Your Body
If you want to reinvent yourself into the kind of person that is successful, both your mind and body need to be in sync. Having a healthy mind is useless if your body doesn’t reflect that as well. Think of your body and mind as one whole entity – an unhealthy body will impact how well your mind functions and vice versa. If even one of them is operating out of balance, it messes everything up. That’s why it is important to keep yourself healthy and fit.
As a busy entrepreneur who’s running a globally acclaimed worldwide organization, Dan Lok deals with a lot of stress. This is why he regularly practice Wing Chun martial arts. Besides being a hobby, it keeps him active and fit to deal with all the stress he faces on a daily business. If he neglected fitness, he claims he would not be able to operate as efficiently in his business. Strategizing about the next moves he would take in business would take more time, thinking critically about problems would be more of an issue, and he would go about his day feeling lousy instead of being passionate and inspiring to his team.
If you want to reinvent yourself, you need to change both what’s inside and what’s outside. When you take the necessary steps to change how you look, you will not only look better but feel better. When you look in a mirror, the person staring back at you is someone who has stopped making excuses, and instead has decided to take control. That’s one of the most important signs you’re well on your way to reinvent yourself and achieve the highest level of success – you have a body that reflects it.
Be Grateful For Everything You Have
If you want to reinvent yourself, practice gratitude in your life. You see, gratitude is a form of meditation that brings you closer to achieving the life that you want. When you’re grateful, you cannot feel negative emotions. Fear and sadness disappear. Doubt vanishes. Even your inner voice that is out to sabotage you, will be silenced because of gratitude.
Positive emotions and negative emotions cannot exist together. Imagine feeling depressed and absolutely amazing at the same time – it is impossible. Gratitude follows the same principle. When you are in a state of gratitude, you are thankful for everything you have in life. Things that you take for granted, such as food, water, and shelter, become things you can appreciate.
Feelings of doubt, such as thinking you’re not good enough, or that you should be working harder, sabotage your emotional and mental state. This internal conflict makes it more difficult for you to reinvent yourself. That’s why gratitude is important – reaffirm to yourself that you’re in control. You’re a different person than who you were before, and you have the results to prove it.
Use Affirmations To Solidify Your Beliefs
The last tip we have to help you reinvent yourself, is to use affirmations to create your reality. You see, humans are like thermostats. At the beginning of your journey to reinvent yourself, your ‘temperature’ might be 30/100. But as you take action and slowly start to progress, this thermostat rises higher – to 35, 40 45 and so on. This number represents your self-worth and self-perception.
Internally however, your brain and body still think you are stuck at a 30. Your life, your mental state and your body may be much higher than that level, but because your internal temperature does not know that, it slowly starts to drag you back down. Your body realizes there is a disproportion between reality and imagination, and so it does everything it can to make it equal again. That’s when people begin sabotaging themselves, telling themselves to work harder and burn out, and feeling like they still aren’t good enough.
In order to overcome this problem, repeat affirmations to yourself every day to raise your internal temperature higher. Repeat to yourself positive things like I am good enough, I am no longer the person I once was, I am making progress. Affirmations help you to solidify your reality and your beliefs and align them to be on the same page. Without affirmations you will slowly revert back to who you once were, taking your life and your progress with it.
