Becoming a 6 figure copywriter is easier than getting a job that pays the same amount.
If you’ve been following our work for some time, you would knows that at the moment, we are in a skill based economy. What determines someone’s net worth is not by landing a nice cushy job, or being a highly ranked employee in a company. It’s what kind of skills the person has.
The problem is that most people don’t realize this. They think the only way to earn a living is to get a job. And that’s why so many people are unsatisfied with life. They’re forced to work a 9-5 job 5 days a week to earn a living. They’re forced to do something that makes them miserable for the rest of their lives. They feel like they’re trapped, with no way out of the rat race.
That’s why more and more freelancers and entrepreneurs are taking a different path from the traditional route of getting a degree and landing a job. In fact, in the US alone, 36% of the entire American workforce are freelancers, and by 2027 it’s estimated this number will rise to 50%. Most freelancers rely on their ability to produce results to make a living. Their skills to get things done, is what determines their value.
If you’re tired of working at a job you hate, or a freelancer who wants to know how to get paid more, read on.
The Difference Between A Freelancer vs. Salary Employee
Freelancers are paid on a contractual basis, meaning they complete a task in exchange for compensation. It is much different from a salary that most corporate businesses use today, where employees are paid based on time. Most freelancers enjoy the perks of being able to set their own schedules, be their own boss and work from anywhere they want. It’s like a dream come true for the average person who aspires to become an entrepreneur.
This means that freelancers aren’t limited to the same working schedule as a full time employee. If you’ve ever heard an employee complaining that they’ve done all their work but aren’t allowed to go home, this is exactly the kind of problem freelancers bypass. Once a freelancer is done their work, they can do whatever they want. They’re not paid for the time they spend working, they’re paid for the results they generate.Freelancers work when they want, where they want. For a freelancer, the most important tool for success is not having a fancy resume, or well written cover letter – it is their skills. Businesses seek out freelancers to help them with their tasks when their internal team is too busy, or they cannot find qualified help. When there’s a looming deadline and something must be done by the end of the month, it is much more advantageous to hire a freelancer who can get it done.
So Why Doesn’t Everyone Become A Freelancer?
You may be wondering, if that’s the case why doesn’t everyone become a freelancer? Why do people still take a 9-5 job and work the rest of their lives away? The answer is because of 3 factors: Traditions in society, their mindset and their skills.
The first reason most people do not become a freelancer, is because it is not considered a profession. When you were in school, most likely you studied to become a doctor, or a lawyer or an accountant. You didn’t blurt out that you were going to become a freelancer, when your teacher asked you what you wanted to become when you grew up. The very concept of freelancing is not very well known and even frowned upon, because most people do not understand how it works. To most people, freelancing is considered a worst case scenario option that you would fall back on if you couldn’t do anything else.
In reality, freelancing is just like any other profession. The main difference, is that freelancing is not taught in traditional education systems like schools or universities. If you want to become a freelancer, going to school will not help. Becoming a freelancer means understanding what kind of service you have to offer, and how you will get paid for it. It goes against traditional wisdom, which is why not everyone becomes a freelancer.
This is also why freelancing is not bound by many of the rules evident in traditional jobs. Freelancers do not work a set number of hours each day, because the amount of work they have fluctuates. This means that freelancers have a lot more control and freedom than traditional 9-5 employees.
The Harsh Truth Behind Why People Settle As Employees
However, the truth is that a majority of freelancers are actually paid a low income. 90% of them struggle to earn above minimum wage, because they have what we call low income skills. These are skills that don’t require a lot of training or expertise to do, such as transcribing a video into words, being a virtual administrative assistants or performing data entry. These are all tasks that anyone can do, and do not require a lot of expertise to complete. As a result, the marketplace is saturated with many freelancers offering these type of services.
This means that most people who become freelancers do not get paid well. They struggle to make enough a month to cover their expenses. And in most cases, working a 9-5 job allows them to earn more than they would as a freelancer. However, the cost of having a high income is giving away your freedom. You have to listen to whatever your boss tells you. You have to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. And you have to seek permission to go on vacation or get a day off.
Most employees trade their time and freedom for a paycheck, not realizing it is their choices that led them to where they are today. They can choose whether or not they want to become a 9-5 employee, or a freelancer. But they do not realize it. They do not realize it is their mindset that is leading them to make the decisions that they do.
What Separates A Successful Entrepreneur From A 9-5 Employee
Compared to celebrities who make a full time income such as singers, musicians and Hollywood actors, most people don’t have a skill they excel at and can leverage to make money. They have expenses to take care of or debt they need to pay off. As a result they are forced to take a job and settle for less.
But the problem isn’t that they don’t possess skills – the problem is that most people have a poor mindset. Almost everyone wants to become rich, but very few are willing to put in the work to get there. They may have attempted to start a business, failed and then given up on entrepreneurship forever. Or they might spend their time playing video games and watching cat videos on YouTube, instead of reading books on finance.
This is why most people that ‘get rich quick’ end up losing it all very quickly. If they win the jackpot from the lottery, the first thing they’ll do is spend it on things they don’t need. They’ll buy a fancy car, big mansion, designer clothes and shoes to match their new lifestyle. And a few years later, that lifestyle will disappear, and they’ll go back to working a job they hate in order to generate income. They lack the financial knowledge – the mindset, to manage wealth.
The One Thing That All Successful People Have In Common
If you have ever spoken with a successful person, you will notice something different about them. They possess a different outlook – a different mindset on life and how they live it. Some people call it becoming ‘awakened’, they know something that we do not.
And for every person that has become successful in life, this holds true. There is nothing that is different from us or them. We are both humans, living on the same planet. We both eat, sleep, and use the bathroom on a regular basis. Our needs are exactly the same – the only thing that makes them different from the general public is how their mind works.
This is what makes a successful person successful. Instead of making excuses, they use their brain. If they don’t know something, they’ll take action and learn about it. For example, one of the biggest complaints people have is that they don’t have enough money and wish they had more. A normal person would complain that their boss does not pay them enough, and then go back to working. Whereas a successful person would complain that they are not making enough from their job, and then do something else to earn more money. This could be things like learning a skill or taking on a part time job.
Successful people understand that whining gets them nowhere. If they want to change their circumstances, they have to take action to correct the problem.
What You Don’t Know Is The Biggest Obstacle Holding You Back
Especially in today’s world, there are opportunities everywhere. The internet has made it so that information is easily accessible. Excuses such as I didn’t know or No one told me are no longer valid – you are just one Google search away from finding out the answer.
For example, if you were told you could earn a 6 figure income from the comfort of your own laptop, without a boss telling you what to do, and without having to struggle financially every month to cover your expenses, how likely are you to believe me? If you’ve never seen someone doing this for yourself, chances are not very likely. You do not have the evidence – the knowledge of how this is possible.
And that is the problem. Because most people go through life not knowing what they don’t know. They don’t know that there are so many opportunities out there for them to make money. They aren’t even aware those opportunities exist. The reason is because they’ve never discovered those opportunities for themselves. They’ve lived their entire life in ignorance, not knowing the answers to the questions they ask everyday exist. They just have to look for them, and most people don’t bother to do that.
This is why so many freelancers struggle or fail with their profession. The skills they possess are low in value. As a result, the services they offer are also low in value. They don’t even realize their skills are low value skills. This is why they struggle financially. They offer a low value service in exchange for a low income, not realizing that if they took the time to learn a skill in demand, they would generate much more money.
High Income Skills vs. Low Income Skills
The opposite of low value or low income skills, are high income skills. People that possess high income skills are paid a high income because they deliver a valuable service. High income skills require a certain skill set in order to do, and as such are much more valuable as not everyone can do them. Some examples of high income skills include programming, closing, public speaking and business management.
For example, almost anyone can learn how to photoshop an image through a few online tutorials. That is why they are not paid very well. But how many people know how to talk to prospects and close deals? Or write intriguing words that get people to take action? These are examples of skills that are high income skills, because the results they can generate are much more valuable. After all, don’t you think being able to convince someone to hand over their credit card, is much more valuable than making an image look pretty?
If you want to become a highly paid freelancer, you need high income skills. Remember this: “Those who control the rain, control the game”. Business are willing to pay top dollar for people who are able to help them generate results. If you can help a business increase their sales, their profits and their revenue, they are more than happy to compensate you for what you can produce.
For example, if you can help a business generate an additional $100,000 in a month, do you think they would be willing to pay you 10% ($10,000) of that in exchange? Of course they would.
High income skills reward you based on the results you can produce. The greater the results you are able to produce, the more you get paid.
