I believe becoming a 6 figure copywriter is easier than getting a job that pays the same amount.
If you’ve been following my work for some time, you would know I am a strong believer that at the moment, we are in a skill based economy. What determines someone’s net worth is not by landing a nice cushy job, or being a highly ranked employee in a company. It’s what kind of skills the person has.
In the US alone, 36% of the entire American workforce are freelancers, and by 2027 it’s estimated this number will rise to 50%. Most freelancers rely on their ability to produce results to make a living. Their skills to get things done, is what determines their value.
The Difference Between A Freelancer vs. Salary Employee
Freelancers are paid on a contractual basis, meaning they complete a task in exchange for compensation. It is much different from a salary that most corporate businesses use today, where employees are paid based on time. Most freelancers enjoy the perks of being able to set their own schedules, be their own boss and work from anywhere they want. It’s like a dream come true for the average person who aspires to become an entrepreneur.Freelancers work when they want, where they want. For a freelancer, the most important tool for success is not having a fancy resume, or well written cover letter – it is their skills. Businesses seek out freelancers to help them with their tasks when their internal team is either too busy or they cannot find qualified help. When there’s a looming deadline and something must be done by the end of the month, it is much easier to find a freelancer who already has the necessary skills needed in order to get it done.
However, the truth is that a majority of freelancers are actually paid a low income. 90% of them struggle to earn above minimum wage, because they have what I call low income skills. These are skills that don’t require a lot of training or expertise to do, such as transcribing a video into words, being a virtual administrative assistants or performing data entry. These are all tasks that anyone can do, making them low income skills that pay less than minimum wage.
High Income Skills vs. Low Income Skills
The opposite of low income skills, are high income skills. High income skills require a certain skill set in order to do, and as such are much more valuable as not everyone can do them. Some examples of high income skills include programming, closing, public speaking and business management.
If you want to become a highly paid freelancer, you need high income skills. Remember this: “Those who control the rain, control the game”. Business are willing to pay top dollar for people who are able to help them earn more money. If you can help a business increase their sales, their profits and their revenue, they are more than happy to compensate you for what you can produce.
For example, if you can help a business generate an additional $100,000 in a month, do you think they would be willing to pay you 10% ($10,000) of that in exchange? Of course they would.
That’s the difference between high income and low income skills. High income skills reward you based on the results you can produce. Businesses pay you a small percentage of that result, so the more you can generate the more you get paid.
Becoming A 6 Figure Copywriter Through High Income Skills
Most people don’t know what copywriting is. And it blows my mind because it is one of the simplest high income skills that can generate a high income.
Copywriting is the art of selling through words. Examples of copywriting are:
- Advertisements on Facebook
- Commercials on TV
- Movie Scripts
- Youtube Ads
- Promotional Posters and Banners
- Essentially anything that involves words or selling
Right now, copywriters are one of the highest paid freelance careers in the world. According to the American Writers and Artists Inc., copywriters get paid $100 for a Facebook Ad, $250 for an email, $1,500 for a website and $5,000 for a full sales page plus commissions. Some copywriters are even earning over 6 figures a year.Copywriters are some of the highest paid freelancers in the world, with many making over 6 figures a year. Click To Tweet
This is possible because copywriters help other businesses generate more money. A 6 figure copywriter uses words to help sell products to their customers and generate more revenue. And when you have the skill to make it rain, companies are more than happy to pay you handsomely for what you can do.
From 100K In Debt To 6 Figure Copywriter
Copywriting was the first high income skill I learned in my entrepreneurial career. When I was young, I was reckless and didn’t know have the skills necessary to succeed in business. As a result I started and failed at 13 businesses and racked up $100K in debt in the process.
It was only once I had found my mentor Alan, who taught me the high income skill of copywriting that I then became a 6 figure copywriter and was able to pay off all my debt. For young entrepreneurs who are looking to get started, copywriting is a skill I highly recommend because of how easy it is to get started.
It is a skill that most people do not know about and do not leverage as a potential career opportunity.
