5 Power Plays To WIN In Life..

I hope you’re enjoying this 5 tip newsletter mini-series…

Last week we touched on 5 enemies to your success…

So, in this week’s newsletter you’ll discover 5 things that will make you POWERFUL beyond belief.

Let’s get started.

How To Set Goals and ACHIEVE Them

If you search ‘goal setting’ online, you’ll see all kinds of different ways people set goals.

You’ve likely heard of the S.M.A.R.T. methodology which is an acronym for…

Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time bound, and if you want more information on this process, then click here >>

Brendon Burchard uses the D.U.M.B. methodology, which stands for…

Dream driven, Uplifting, Measurable, Behavior driven, and you can see Brendon’s full goal setting process here >>

3 years ago, I sat down with Andres Pira, who went from being homeless on a Thai beach to becoming the CEO of Blue Horizon Developments…

A company that has won 2 Property Awards and 1 Best Developer Award.

We chatted specifically about his goal setting methods, and I’m delighted to share this part of the interview with you here >>

I’ve linked 3 goal setting videos for you.

You’re welcome to watch them and see which method resonates most, so you can implement it and achieve your goals this year and beyond.

Why You Must Become People Orientated

You may already know this…

But what I’m about to share IS one of the biggest keys to success.

If you look at anyone who’s successful, they all have at least one thing in common.

They’re PEOPLE orientated.

They’re great communicators, and for the most part great with people.

Never forget, everything you want someone already has.

If you want a certain amount of money, a certain lifestyle, a certain car etc, there are people out there who can give them to you in exchange for something.

The sooner you start to think of who you can help, rather than how can I get XYZ, the faster you’ll hit your income goals.

I realized this when I got started in business all those years ago, by mowing a stranger’s lawn.

This brings me to the next power play.

Why You Must Become a Problem Solver

Problems are the only thing getting in your way of getting what you want.

They could be your problems, or they could be other people’s problems.

If you solve enough people’s burning problems, they’ll pay you handsomely for it.

Personal development Godfather Zig Ziglar once famously said “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.”

That’s why I teach high income skills.

Because they are highly paid skills that solve business problems.

They don’t take years to learn unlike a college degree…

And you can make good money for your time invested, that grows as your skill grows.

But, if you want to succeed with a high income skill you must first beat self-sabotage.

How To Beat Self-sabotage

Self-sabotage is the one of the biggest things that could get in the way of you achieving your dreams and aspirations.

Procrastination, negative self-talk, fear of failure or success, lack of focus and direction, and self-destructive behavior, are all common signs of self-sabotage.

But why does this happen?

It happens because we all have different beliefs about what’s possible for us.

If deep down you don’t feel worthy of money, everytime you make some, you’ll find a way to lose it.

If you don’t feel worthy of success, you’ll find a way to sabotage any opportunity you get.

If you’re afraid of rejection, you’ll make sure you never put yourself into a situation where you could be rejected.

You’ll do all this unconsciously, and you’ll think this is just how life is.

There are many other causes of self-sabotage including low self-esteem and confidence, past traumas or failures, external influences and distractions, or a lack of clarity and purpose.

Now you know some of the common signs and causes of self-sabotage, you can develop self-awareness around which ones present themselves in your life.

It’s important you have compassion for yourself as none of this is your fault, but it’s your responsibility to work through these obstacles if you want success.

Some things you can begin doing to work through self-sabotage include, practicing daily gratitude, meditation, journaling, and forgiving yourself for past mistakes.

As one of the goal setting tactics Andres shared in the video I shared above, was breaking down your bigger goals into smaller goals and celebrating each achievement.

Don’t aim for $20K per month.

Doing so will cause you to self-sabotage.

Instead, aim for $2K, then $4K, and keep going until you hit your goal of $20K.

If you break down your goals into smaller actions you’re less likely to trigger self-sabotage actions or inaction.

If you’d like a deeper dive into the 5 thoughts that can sabotage your success, then watch my YouTube video here >>

How To Develop Self-discipline

I purposely left this one for last because self-discipline underpins everything you’ve read about above.

Self-discipline is doing the things you know you should even when you don’t feel like it.

It’s what separates the successful from the unsuccessful.

Self-discipline can be a positive or negative cycle.

Whether you keep putting things off because you don’t feel like it…

Or you decide to take action regardless of how you feel.

Either way, you’ll build a strong habit.

You just have to decide which habit you want to build.

So, start small.

And remember, everytime you take action when you don’t feel like it, it makes your self-discipline stronger.

Click here for 5 ways to build unbreakable self-discipline, and start building yours today >>

In Closing…

Personal development isn’t easy.

If it were, everyone would do it.

You should commend yourself that you’re on this journey striving towards a more successful, fulfilling, and abundant life.

Most people don’t have the self-honesty to do what you’re doing, so keep going and never give up.

I hope this newsletter has armed you with a few extra tools and tactics to help take your life to brand new heights.

To your success,

Dan Lok

3 Ways To Upgrade Your Environment Fast..

You spoke, and we listened…

A few weeks ago we sent an email asking what topics you’d like us to cover, and one thing that stood out was you wanted to hear more of my stories.

So, in this week’s newsletter, you’ll discover some of my personal stories about why your environment is KEY to your success, and how to upgrade your environment to help you achieve your goals.

The Day I Got Arrested…

I was a punk kid in my early teens.

I hung out with gang members…

Got up to no good…

Smoked cigarettes…

And was on the fast track to nowhere.

One day, mom and dad had to pick me up from the police station.

One policeman said to my dad “If you don’t get your son out of here, he’ll end up in jail.”

Not long after that, dad decided to move mom and I to Vancouver, Canada.

A brand new environment where I couldn’t get into trouble any longer.

The Day I Realized I Could Become a Millionaire

As you may be aware, after failing at 13 businesses, I met my mentor Alan Jaques.

Alan taught me how to write sales copy, which was my first high income skill.

After I’d been out on my own for a while, and one day Alan asked me…

“Dan, I’m thinking of getting a few smart people, kind of like a mastermind, and we’ll get together once a month and brainstorm ideas. Do you want to join us?”

There I was, a kid in his early twenties, making low 6 figures in income, being invited to a millionaire only mastermind.

Of course, I said “yes”.

I remember the first few meetings were very awkward.

I felt out of place.

They were talking numbers I couldn’t even fathom.

5, 8, 10 million dollars etc.

At each meeting, I got more comfortable being around them.

And although I was usually very quiet, I began to share some of my ideas.

To my surprise they actually liked them.

One day, after about 6 months, we were at lunch, when it finally hit me.

I thought, “These guys are making 50 times more money than I am, but they’re not 50 times smarter, and they don’t work 50 times harder than me.”

It was at that moment, I had an identity change, and realized that if I wanted to, I could become a millionaire.

This never would have happened if I hadn’t accepted Alan’s invitation and upgraded my environment.

The Day My Fish Died

Back in 2019, I had a large fish tank.

Many of the fish became sick, and sadly, one also died.

I called the fish tank expert and I asked him what I could do to treat the other fish.

He said “Dan, if your fish are sick, you don’t treat the fish, you treat the water.”

I thought about it for a minute, and realized he was completely right and how this analogy applies to life and success.

A lot of people downplay their environment but, as you’ve read above, your environment is highly influential.

Change your environment and you’ll change your life.

Now, before we get into ways you can change your environment and upgrade the people you hang out with.

3 Ways To Upgrade Your Environment To Win In 2023

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I truly believe in the power of mentorship.

With that said, the quickest way to find success centric people is by joining a paid program online.

It’s the simplest solution, and if you find a mentor with a large community, you’ll find no end of people to connect with and meet up with if you’re in the same city.

Yes, you’ll need to invest money, but depending on what you’re looking for, it doesn’t have to be thousands of dollars, although it could be.

Another way is by attending live events.

The investment is typically far greater, as you have to pay for flights, accommodation and ticket costs, etc, unless the event is local to you.

But live events are one of the best places to connect with people all looking to level up in life.

If you’re lucky enough to live in a big city there will be successful people you could approach and perhaps ask them to mentor you like I did.

Typically this is a long shot, unless people already pay them to mentor them, because they’re busy and have no reason to mentor a stranger.

But it’s worth a try, as long as you bring something to the table and have something they need, which in my case with Alan was me helping him around the office.

How To Find Successful People If You Live In A Small Town

If you’ve got nothing going on in your city or town, my best advice is to move.

If you’re serious about your life and success, relocating to a bigger city is one of the best things you can do.

Not only will it upgrade your environment automatically, when you step outside your comfort zone like that, it forces you to level up just by the fact you’re in a new environment.

You’ll unlock a new confidence you never knew existed.

You’ll be forced to meet new people.

And more than likely, because your family and friends expect you to act a certain way…

When you’re in a new environment, you’ll actually reinvent yourself and do things outside your norm.

How To Create An Environment For Success

If you work a 9-5 your environment will be mostly out of your control, but do what you can do to make it as conducive to success as possible.

I like to have what I call wealth triggers in my home office…

And if you’re someone who works from home already you may like to add some to your office too.

You can get an idea of some of my wealth triggers here >>

Forbes.com wrote a great article on other ways besides adding wealth triggers you could upgrade your work environment and set yourself up for success.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s newsletter and discovered why your environment is so important as well as ways to upgrade it.

See you in the next one

How To Find Your Life Purpose

Quick question…

If I asked you what you think your life purpose is, what would you say?

Could you tell me exactly what it was, or would that question stump you a little?

There’s no right or wrong here, because while I feel that everyone has a life purpose, the problem is we aren’t taught how to figure out what it is.

Usually, we find ourselves working some kind of job after school, and more often than not we’re dissatisfied with that job…

And only when things get completely unbearable do we attempt to change anything.

It’s then we begin a journey of self-discovery…

Learning…

Searching for answers to questions we didn’t even know we had.

Heck, the average person doesn’t know why they even wake up every morning or go to work.

If you asked me as a 19 year old what my WHY was, I would have told you “to provide for my mom.”

It may not seem like much, but it makes all the difference.

As soon as you know your reason for doing anything, life becomes clearer.

So here’s a snippet of what you’ll discover in this week’s newsletter.

  • How to find your WHY…
  • How to find your unique talents…
  • How to find your life purpose…
  • And more

How to Find Your Why

In 2019 I visited Australia for a business event called Startcon, where I gave a presentation.

I met many success driven individuals and I remember speaking to one kid who was 19 years old.

He was confused with what to pursue in life.

I asked him what his “why” was and he couldn’t tell me.

So, I painted a dark “worst case” scenario in his head based on his life, which is an exercise I take people through to help them figure out their why.

You can get the quick exercise here, if you’d like some help pinpointing your why >>

It doesn’t matter how old you are, understanding your “why” is always important, and as you go through life, your “why” will change as your situation changes.

We’ll touch more on your “why” later in the newsletter, because once you’ve been through the other exercises and you discover your purpose and unique talents, your “why” may change.

I believe each of these 3 elements should tie together and you’ll see what I mean in a moment.

How To Find Your Life Purpose

Many people spend their entire lives searching for deeper meaning but not all of them find it.

On the flipside, there are people who live their entire lives wondering if life has a deeper meaning, but they never even begin searching…

They just believe life is what it is and people who have a purpose are few and far between.

But I believe everyone has a life purpose, and it’s easier to figure out than you might think.

It really comes down to asking yourself a few key questions, and here they are.

  • What do you love to do?

I’m talking about the things you’re passionate about that put you into the flow state where hours seem like minutes.

I’m talking about things that others may see as “work” but you love them so much you’d happily do them for free.

Now, if you spend a lot of time trying to figure this out but you come up empty handed, it tells me you haven’t tried enough things.

In that case, make a list of all the things you’d like to try but haven’t yet.

Try as many of them as you can until you find the few you absolutely love.

You may find you discover new things that weren’t on your initial list, and that’s OK.

The more things you try the more you’ll discover about yourself and what you do and don’t like.

  • What are you good at, and what are your natural talents?

As a child you may have really enjoyed art, acting, music, or other things you tried in school, and people told you that you were really good at…

But because society taught us that people in those careers either make a lot of money or barely any money at all, you gave up on your childhood dream.

Well, that may have been the case, but because of the internet, there are people doing what they love online and making more than they made at their 9-5.

If you’re stuck with how to find your natural talents, I have a very powerful video for you with 7 questions to help you do just that >>

Skip to 4:33 for the fourth question, and or feel free to watch the entire video if you’d like to hear me explain the above three questions further.

How To Tie It All Together

After going through these questions and doing the exercises, you should now know yourself on a much deeper level.

Hopefully, you’ve had some “a-ha” moments and you’re now more clear on your life purpose.

If not, that’s OK.

As long as your why, your unique talents, and your life purpose all work together, even if you’re not 100% clear…

The further you go on your journey, the clearer things will become.

I hope this newsletter has helped you gain some clarity in your life and journey to success.

Until next time,

Dan Lok

P.S. – If you’re working a 9-5 you dislike that stops you from achieving your dreams, one of the best ways to free up time and make more money is by developing a high income skill.

5 Enemies To Your Success

We’ve covered a lot in these newsletters so far…

But today, I want to share with you some common enemies to your success.

Most of these are within your control, and a few aren’t…

But that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about them.

So, get ready to discover 5 common enemies to success and how to overcome them.

Why Your Comfort Zone Is Your Income Zone

I teach this in my High Ticket Closer Certification™

This especially applies to closers because for some people talking to strangers is uncomfortable.

But, the more strangers they talk to, the more they’ll close, and the more money they’ll make.

It’s really that simple.

But what’s simple in theory isn’t simple in practice.

So, where are you stuck in your comfort zone in life and business?

The comfort zone has a way of sneaking up on you and keeping you there, unless you’re actively working to stay out of it.

In fact, around 80% of people avoid change even if that change is positive or beneficial.

So, you’re not alone.

Take note of things you’re comfortable with, and then devise a plan to get out of your comfort zone.

It’s likely you know what to do, you’re just not doing it.

For instance, everyone knows how to lose weight, but very few actually do it.

Let’s move on.

What Is Learned Helplessness?

People who experience learned helplessness always look for something to blame.

The economy is bad…

My partner doesn’t want me to to change…

My boss doesn’t want me to progress in my job.

You fill in the blank.

Of course, these are all real obstacles in their mind, but when it comes down to it, they’re looking for a scapegoat as to why they can’t change.

So if you’re in this position, recognize that some of the biggest companies like General Motors, IBM, Whatsapp, and many more started during a recession.

I’ve had mentees who worked a full time job with young kids and a family who transitioned from their job into full time closing positions.

If you want it bad enough you’ll find a way, if not, you’ll find an excuse.

Why The Path Of Least Resistance Is Best Left Alone

I get it, we all want success YESTERDAY.

We all want to take the easiest path to our destination.

But the easy path never brings you what you want and everything worthwhile takes time.

No one achieves success overnight.

Behind every success story are months and years of struggle, failure, and self-doubt.

But the important thing is you adjust your strategy as needed… fail forward… and never give up.

Why You Must Upgrade Your Beliefs

One of the biggest reasons more people don’t achieve their life goals is they have preconceived ideas about what’s possible for them.

If your mindset doesn’t grow, you’ll never grow, and to get what you want out of life, you must grow, wouldn’t you agree?

This is also true for you if you’ve already achieved some success.

What got you here won’t get you there.

Every level of success requires multiple mindset and skillset upgrades to get to the next level.

Some of the best ways to upgrade your mindset is by spending time with people who are decades ahead of you.

If you’re making $5K per month, you want to hang around people making $50K-$100K+ per month, not $10K per month.

My first mentor Alan let me spend time with him and his friends who all made multi-millions each year, and it expanded my thinking like nothing I’d ever experienced.

Why Progression > Perfection

When you first start out in anything, there’s a tendency to want things to be PERFECT.

You want to release the perfect video…

Have the perfect closing call…

Write the perfect sales page…

But in my opinion, perfection is paralysis.

You’ll never get anywhere if you strive for perfection.

What you’re looking for is progress.

As long as you progress a little bit each day, week, month etc, eventually you’ll look back on where you are now and barely recognize yourself.

I always say, “you can’t have quality without quantity.”

Remember, you don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going.

So make a start on your goals and reassess every 3-6 months to track your progress.

Why Your Environment Is More Powerful Than Your Willpower

If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know how powerful I believe your environment is.

It will truly make or break your success.

I’m sure you’ve heard the quote “You’re the average of the 5 people you hang around most.”

Now, there may not be any significance to the number 5, but you can be damn sure if your friends are coasting through life, you’ll end up doing the same.

On the flipside, if you had just 2-3 ambitious, driven, and committed friends all with similar goals and aspirations, my guess is your life would change pretty quickly.

So, where can you find people like this?

You could try various entrepreneurial meetup groups, or paid business events etc.

Why You Must Have More NON-NEGOTIABLES In Your Life

I was going to keep it to 5 enemies to success, but here’s a bonus.

Something I teach in my High Income Copywriter Certification™, is the idea of having non-negotiables in your life.

Most people simply don’t have enough non-negotiables in their lives.

This means, things you do every day without fail, that you know will improve your life.

For my mentees in HIC it was studying high converting marketing pieces every day and writing copy.

For you, it could be anything you believe will take your life to the next level.

So, what are the 2-3 things you’ll make time for every day no matter how busy you are?

Make a small list and make sure you do them every day without fail.

In Closing…

There are many more enemies to success I simply couldn’t write about in this newsletter…

But I’ve given you enough to work on that once removed will add huge value to your life in the short, medium, and long term.

To your success,

Dan Lok

You… A Powerful Public Speaker?

I’ll never forget how nervous I was…

It was high school English class, and in order to pass, I had to give a speech to the entire class.

Just the thought of doing this made me wish I was invisible to the world…

So, on the day of the speech, I skipped class to hide in the toilets.

The truth was, to most of my classmates, I was invisible.

I never put my hand up or spoke in class, due to the fear of saying something stupid.

After my teacher told me she couldn’t pass me if I didn’t present a speech, she also offered to help me write it.

So, I faced my fear and agreed.

It actually didn’t go too badly, and the best part… I was… I didn’t die!

This made me want to conquer my fear of speaking, and so I joined Toast Masters, so I could also improve my English and gain more confidence.

I remember how nervous I was speaking in front of the others in attendance.

As I felt I wasn’t a good speaker, I made sure I worked on it extra hard.

In fact, I was a member of two Toast Masters groups at one point, so I had double the speeches.

And do you want to know something funny?

After one of my speeches one day, a colleague said to me “Dan, you know you’re a natural speaker?”

I almost fell out of my chair.

“There’s nothing natural about what I do, trust me.” I replied.

And guess what else…

Out of all the people in my group who wanted to become professional speakers, I was the ONLY ONE to make it happen.

The kid from Hong Kong who spoke with a thick accent.

But that just goes to show the power of putting in the work.

So in this week’s newsletter, you’re going to get some of my best tips on improving your public speaking…

So you can turn yourself into the best public speaker you can be.

Even if you don’t plan on becoming a paid public speaker, this will help you in many areas of your life, especially at work.

After all, the better you are at public speaking, the more money you’ll make.

Why Public Speaking Is North America’s Biggest Fear

As you may know, public speaking is feared by almost every person on the planet.

Why?

There are many reasons…

They fear being judged or evaluated negatively by the audience.

This of course leads to shame, embarrassment, and failure.

Having bad past public speaking experiences also contribute to and confirm this fear, which can lead to a loss of confidence and even social anxiety.

So, there are many factors at play, and I deep dive into more of them here >>

How To Overcome The Fear Of Public Speaking

It’s likely you’re in a catch 22 situation.

Do you overcome your fear of public speaking before you get on stage next, or do you face your fear and get on stage to overcome it?

The truth is, it’s a bit of both.

Obviously, I’m a far better speaker today than I was way back when I started, because of all the hours I’ve put in.

But there were some very powerful mental tricks I did to overcome my fear of speaking in front of others.

In short they are focusing on your audience, visualization, and what I like to call the “power move”.

If you’d like a more in depth explanation, then I clear all this up for you here >>

How To Find Your Speaking Style

You may look at great public speakers like Tony Robbins, Oprah Winfrey, or Steve Jobs and think…

“They’re great, but that’s not really my style.”

I get you.

That’s why it’s important you find your own signature style.

The way I did this is by studying great public speakers and using some of their techniques and style in my speeches…

Then eventually, I took what worked for me and developed my own style from that.

One afternoon, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Forbes speaker Deborah Patel, where she shared some of her pro speaking tips to help you connect with your audience and create your own speaking style.

How To Hook Your Audience and Keep Them On The Edge of Their Seat

It doesn’t matter whether you’re speaking in front of a small group, doing an office presentation, or speaking to hundreds or even thousands of people…

There are things you can do to make your presentation fun, engaging, and memorable.

And the best part, you don’t have to be famous to hook your audience in.

In fact, no one will listen to a boring speech delivered by even the most famous person in the world.

So, in a moment you’ll get the chance to discover 7 of my most effective public speaking secrets.

These secrets, will help you:

  • Become unforgettable…
  • Let the audience know why they should listen to you…
  • Command their participation in a smooth way…
  • Be entertaining…
  • Set the right expectation and stop your audience thinking “I’ve heard of this before”
  • And much much more

So, click here for 7 public speaking secrets so effective, you’ll have you audience eating out of the palm of your hand >>

In closing…

Public speaking is one of the highest paid skills on the planet.

Why?

Because every event needs speakers, and if you can convey your message and get people to act on your presentation, you can literally print money from the stage.

When you combine closing and copywriting skills with public speaking skills, you’re in a league of your own.

5 Amazing Stories To Aid Your Success Journey..

When you look at successful people online what do you see?

Do you see their cars, houses, clothes, and lifestyle and think…

“How did they even get started?”

“How hard did they have to work, or did they work smart instead?”

“What skills did they acquire to get to where they are?”

Well, if you had similar thoughts to those above, you’ll love this week’s newsletter…

Because today, you’ll discover how well-known influencers got their start in business and the skills they developed to achieve great success.

So, let’s get started.

How a Former Drug Addict Became a $600 Million Real Estate Tycoon

After losing his father and his older brother, a young Italian man from Lake Charles, Louisiana turned to drugs and alcohol at age 16.

Despite life’s many challenges being thrown at him he graduated high school and earned a university degree in accounting.

He got his start as a salesman in car dealerships, located throughout Texas and California.

It wouldn’t be until age 25 that he began to seek help and get his life together.

He attended rehab, where his counselor told him he’d “fail in the real world.”

This only pushed him to prove his counselor wrong.

He first saw success as a Consultant to car dealerships helping them with their sales and marketing, and he used this money to branch out into real estate.

Today, he’s the CEO of multiple companies, has a net worth of around $600 million, and is a world-renowned author, speaker, investor, coach, and sales trainer.

His name is Grant Cardone, and his first high income skill was closing.

How A Shy Student Built an 8 Figure Online Empire

After nearly flunking out of a United Kingdom college due to a gaming addiction, a young Malaysian man returned home unemployed, broke, and $42,200 in debt.

He managed to land a job paying $330 per month.

One day while showering he had a stark realization.

There was no way he’d be able to pay off his college debt on his salary.

He searched “How to make money online”, and began implementing some of what he’d learned.

After 7 months, he made his first $7 dollars online.

After receiving the Paypal notification he rushed into his mother’s room to tell her the great news.

“It’s only $7. You’ve been at this for 7 months already.”

She was right but he knew that if he could repeat this over and over again then this was just the beginning.

What happened over the next 7 years was nothing short of amazing.

He built an 8 figure empire that continues to grow.

Today he is an author, speaker, and on stage closer, but his first high income skill was digital marketing.

His name is Peng Joon, and in his words “Marketing is the skill that pays the bills.”

How a Belarusian Immigrant Became a Digital Marketing Mogul

After immigrating to the US from Belarus in 1978 a young boy lived in a studio apartment in Queens, New York with eight family members.

He started his first business (a lemonade franchise) at age 7 and sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of baseball cards during high school.

While working at his father’s liquor store he took over operations and launched it online in the mid 2000’s

He grew the liquor store from $4 million to $60 million a year.

He co-founded VaynerMedia with his brother in 2009, without raising startup capital.

In 9 years they grew their company to 800 employees, servicing large companies such as PepsiCo, General Electric, Johnson and Johnson, Chase, and many more.

He is of course Gary Vee, and today he is an serial entrepreneur, influencer, highly paid speaker, angel investor, 5x NYT bestselling author, and CEO.

He describes himself as a “purebred entrepreneur” and his first skill was sales.

How a Kid From the Ghetto Became Known as The Trillion Dollar Man

Growing up in the tough Varrios of East Los Angeles, Daniel was in and out of trouble.

His father believed in tough love, and never accepted any nonsense from his kids.

Dan spent many nights in jail for various alcoholic incidents, and his father once instructed his friends in the police force to beat Dan and teach him a lesson.

He got his start as a financial analyst on Wall Street and went on to become the president of Houston-based oil company, Western Resources Inc. A company which listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1984.

He grew Western Resources to $450 million at a time when oil prices had collapsed.

Throughout his career, he’s had many great achievements including being number #1 in real estate sales while still in graduate school.

He’s been a speaker and business coach for many years and lives in Guthrie Castle in Scotland.

He is none other than my second mentor, The 1 Trillion Dollar man, Mr. Dan Peña.

His first high income skill was closing.

How a Chinese Immigrant Who Couldn’t Speak English Become a World-class Speaker

I’ll spare you the suspense here because this next story is mine.

If you don’t know my full story, I immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong with my mother at 14.

I couldn’t speak a word of English.

I was shy, introverted, and unconfident.

I was bullied often.

I got into business out of necessity to provide for my mom when my father went bankrupt and could no longer send us money.

But, things weren’t all smooth sailing.

I failed at 13 businesses and amassed $150K of debt by the time I hit my late teens.

I had a chance meeting with my first mentor and successful entrepreneur Alan Jacques at one of his events.

He taught me my first high income skill, which was Copywriting.

Over the years I would add consulting, closing, digital marketing, and speaking to my toolbelt.

I’d make multiple six figures in my early twenties.

I’d speak all over North America to thousands of people.

I started multiple online businesses, some of which were extremely successful.

I retired twice at age 27 and 30 and got bored fast.

I started an education business in 2017 that hit 8 figures in under 10 months.

Today, I’m the Chairman of Dragon 100™, and the managing partner of the DragonX Capital venture capital firm.

I’m also a professional speaker and online influencer with tens of millions of followers.

My first high income skill as I mentioned was Copywriting…

And if we can do it, so can you.

But you have to start somewhere.
