Email Subject Lines That Get Opened: 20 Of The Best Examples

Being an email copywriter who specializes in email marketing, means being able to write email subject lines that get opened. You see, the subject line is the first thing people read whenever they get an email. In fact, research shows that 35% of email recipients open emails based on the subject line alone.

If you’ve spent hours crafting the perfect sales email, but your subject line doesn’t grab their attention, you’ve just wasted hours of your time. In order to get your clients results from email marketing campaigns, it’s crucial to understand the kind of subject lines that get opened.

subject lines that get opened

Based on our own email list and past campaigns that have been most successful, here are some of the best examples of subject lines that get opened.

1. Humor

“I accidentally fell into the toilet”

“Eagle steals man’s hat”

Email subject lines that contain humor are one of the top types of subject lines that get opened.

People love humor. Most of the news and headlines you see today are about negative mishaps and filled with doom and gloom. When you send an email with a humorous subject line, it immediately stands out from every other negative email that they’re constantly spammed by on a daily basis. And when you stand out from everyone else, you have people’s attention.

You could tell a joke, or describe a funny event that recently happened. As long as there’s lighthearted humor in the subject line, your readers will be curious to find out more.

2. Numbers and Statistics

“Top 20 Subject Lines That Get Opened”

“15 Foods To Help You Lose Weight”

Using lists and numbers is another extremely popular type of subject lines that get opened.

Naturally, humans do not like to leave things undone. Our preferred behavior is to finish one task, and then move on to do the next. Having to leave a task in the middle of it makes us feel very uncomfortable. That’s why if you’ve ever been interrupted while in the middle of something, you get irritated or frustrated, because you now have to stop and put your focus on the person talking to you.

Numbers signify that there is something the reader can look forward to. You are making the reader a promise ahead of time as to what they can expect, such as 10 different ways to do something.

Once your reader decides to read the first item on the list, they are already committing themselves to finish the entire thing. As they go through the list one by one, the thought that there are still 5 or 3 more items they haven’t read about, will constantly be in the back of their mind. Until they finish the list, they will not feel comfortable leaving the page.

On our YouTube channel, statistics show that our YouTube videos with numbers in them – such as 10 Closing Tactics That Make Prospects Say Yes or 15 Ways to Write Sales Copy That Sells perform much better than videos that do not have numbers.

So, if you want to increase your email open rates, use numbers in your subject lines.

3. Shock

“Trump declares war on Iran”

“A global recession has finally arrived”

Humans are naturally curious creatures. We like to explore the unknown, and when presented with an opportunity to do so, it is very tempting for us to listen to our natural instincts.

When you use shock or surprise in a subject line, you are tapping into that curiosity that all humans have. That’s why news headlines use shocking headlines such as BREAKING NEWS to get your attention and make you want to know what’s going on.

A subject line that makes the reader go WHAT?! is an example of one that uses shock. Make your reader open their eyes in disbelief, and your readers will find it irresistible to open the email.

4. The Real Secret To [Blank]

Human beings are naturally curious and we want to know secrets.

We often feel that there is something we ought to know in order to avoid making mistakes that we make.

Now “secret” is a word that might be a bit overused in marketing. But this subject line actually plays on that – it shows the real secret, no just any secret.

Here are a few examples:

“The Real Secret to Fat Burning”

“The Real Secret to a Perfect Wedding”

Curiosity combined with the need to be “in the know” will get this email opened. Make sure that what you write in this type of emails is also realistic so that you earn and keep the trust of your readers.

5. The Fastest Way to [Blank]

Now, if you could choose – would you pick a slow or a fast way to do something or get somewhere? Do you want something fast or slow?

We live in a world of instant gratification. We are conditioned to be impatient, and we do not want to wait for anything.

So if you offer a method for getting a desired outcome or goal faster – you will grab your reader’s attention.

“The Fastest Way to Start Your Business”

“The Fastest Way to Make 10K a Month”

Do you see it? – Instant results.

What makes this subject line effective is that it makes a very specific promise. But you have to make sure that you remain realistic. You always have to focus on making a credible and believable promise.

If you say something outrageous such as “The Fastest Way to Make  Million Dollars Overnight” – you will lose trust because that is not a realistic promise. People will not take you seriously after that.

Underpromise and your email will overdeliver in this case. If you make them a promise that readers read and think “I can do better than that” then you challenged them with your email and they will continue reading your emails.

6. Here’s a Shortcut for [Blank]

So just as we would choose fast if we had to pick between fast and slow, between easy and hard we would want easy. Right? Everyone wants to find easier ways to get things done and achieve things.

So this subject line implies that you have yet another solution for your reader. Can you see how simple and yet powerful this subject line really is?

“Here’s a Shortcut for…

…Achieving the Most in the Least Time”

…The Best Marketing Strategy”

When you use this type of a subject line, and if your offer can get your prospect an instant gratification, then you will increase your sales. This could be a software offer or a course offer – anything they can click right away and get immediately.

7. One-Word Subject Lines

If you’re struggling with coming up with subject lines that get opened, and you can’t think of a good one, use a one-word subject line.

At first glance, you may think this would never work. But in practice, it works very well because it’s a pattern interrupt. The fact that it’s just one word, makes it stand out. Most email subject lines are lengthy, have some cheesy joke or something that arouses their curiosity.

But a one-word subject line has none of that. In fact, it has NOTHING, except that one word. Because it’s so simple, that’s why it works. Your reader will look at it, become confused, and be curious to open it.

The best way to write a one-word subject line is with a greeting. Greet the reader with a subject line such as Hey, to let them know the email is intended for them. Some other good one-worded subject lines are questions, which we will get into later.

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. - Steve Jobs Click To Tweet

8. FREE Anything

“FREE stuff inside”

“Do you want a FREE sofa?”

People love free stuff. When you put the word free into the subject line, your reader is immediately going to feel there is something in it for them.

Remember: Everyone on this planet is tuned into the radio station WIIFM – What’s In It For Me? If you cater to their desire to have something to gain, you will get their attention.

The word free implies there is something for them to gain at no cost. There are no strings attached. No hidden fees. Nothing that would make them suspect you want something from them. When someone has everything to gain and nothing to lose, they are going to be interested in your offer.

Using a subject line with the word free is best used when you want to offer a free sample or gift. One of the biggest problems copywriters make, is that they use the word ‘free’ to bait the reader into clicking, only for them to realize they have to make a purchase. If you use ‘free’ as clickbait, your readers will lose trust in you in the future. You may get results in the moment, but using ‘free’ as clickbait will only hurt long term customer relationships.

With any method you use, be sure you understand the consequences and intended actions that method will result in. Don’t sacrifice short term gains if it means long term losses. You will lose more in the long run.

9. How To Survive [Blank]

One of the subject lines that would get attention is the one that indicates some kind of solution to a problem that your reader might have. So the idea is that your question implies useful information that might help them resolve an issue or relieve some kind of pain.

As human beings, we often avoid discomfort. We often need to make adjustments.

If your email indicates some kind of solution to discomfort and pain the chances are – it will be open.

For example:

“How to Survive…

…a Financial Crisis”

…a Bankruptcy”

…a Heart Attack”

These are all subject lines that make people curious and indicate some sort of solution. People want to learn and these types of emails can give the reader a satisfaction of learning or doing something new.

10. Limited Time Offers

“Flash Sale Ends at Midnight”

“Limited-Time Winter Blowout Sale”

Humans naturally like to procrastinate. When there is no deadline, there is no urgency. And if there is no urgency, there is no reason to take action immediately. Instead, we will delay something for as long as possible.

If you want to get results from your emails as a copywriter, put a time-sensitive offer into the copy to get your readers to take action immediately. A sale that lasts for only 2 days will get a lot more attention than a sale that lasts for a month. To your readers, they’ll read it and think “I still have time, there’s no reason for me to buy just yet.”

The problem is that over the next 30 days, your readers are going to forget all about the sale. They’ll go on with their daily lives, and hear of other sales that are going on as well. When they encounter one that only lasts for a few days, they’ll forget all about yours, because they’ve already spent all of their money.

11. Celebrities

“Warren Buffett’s best investing secrets”

“Elon Musk’s new space rocket”

People love to know about the latest news about celebrities. Ask yourself, do you know anyone who always keeps themselves up to date about the hottest celebrity gossip?

Humans are naturally drawn to others who are successful or have a following. It is a sign that they are important, and as people, we want to associate ourselves with important figures.

Celebrities draw a lot of attention because of their status. If you want to generate a lot of attention, use a well-known person’s name in the subject line to get the reader’s attention.

12. How I [Blank]

Chances are when your subscribers sign up for your emails, they value your opinions, experiences, stories…

So, if you start your emails with this – you will give them the impression that you’re about to share something important and personal with them.

“How I Grew My…

…Youtube Channel”

…Found My Soulmate Online”

…Permanently Removed Headache”

The key with this type of email is to be as personal as possible. Be vulnerable. Open up about difficult times and make a connection with your reader. Show them that you understand where they’re at.

These emails use the power of story to connect with the reader. If you create a story that provokes an emotional reaction, you will be able to bond with your reader and engage them directly.

13. Best or Worst

“The Best Foods To Eat In 2020”

“The Worst Sales Tactics You Are Using”

No one pays attention to mediocrity. As humans, we pay the most attention to things at extreme spectrums – such as the best or worst of things.

That’s why news outlets and media always focus on first place winners. You see magazines and articles talking about who won Gold at the Olympics, but never anything about who came second place. We are not wired to pay attention to the losers – we aspire to become the winners and as a result pay attention to them the most.

Use words that imply extremes such as best, worst, greatest, amazing, and terrible to  get your reader’s attention.

14. About Your [Blank]

This type of subject line is one of our favorites. It generates a lot of curiosity.

When your readers read a subject like that they wonder – do you know something I don’t know?

“About Your…

…Diet”

…Business”

…Spouse…”

You see how this would make someone want to read on?

15. Hot News

“The Outcome of Trump’s Impeachment”

“Presidential 2020 Candidates”

Any kind of events that have recently taken place are another good example of subject lines that get opened.

People are naturally curious about what’s happening around the world. They may not be impacted by it directly, but they still want to keep themselves in the loop.

Just like people like to keep themselves up to date with the latest celebrity gossip, people want to know what’s going on in the world. Take advantage of the latest news and events to make your readers click.

16. Valuable Advice

“Top Superfoods You Should Eat”

“Why You Shouldn’t Bathe Naked”

What kind of person gives advice? Someone who is an expert on that topic, who has in-depth knowledge on what to do.

As humans, we listen to those with authority. We perceive them as someone who knows more than we do, and give them our attention even though it may not be true. Subject lines that give the reader advice influence them to think of the email content as important.

Giving advice is also another way of catering to the reader’s desire of what’s in it for them. You are giving them free, valuable advice they can implement in their lives. And everyone loves free stuff.

17. Get Niche

“Best Sales Techniques For Life Coaches”

“Top 10 Asian Entrepreneurs Of 2025”

When you state a niche, you are catering to a very specific audience. And if your audience falls into that niche, you make your reader feel special, as if the email was written for them. Making your reader feel special implies there is exclusivity – something that only a handful of people will have access to. We value things that are exclusive, and by making your reader feel exclusive, they will feel valued.

For example, if you are a coach in the fitness niche, which subject line would you respond more strongly to?

“Biggest Mistakes Fitness Coaches Make”

“Biggest Mistakes Coaches Make”

The more specific you are with your audience, the more likely you will get their attention. Know your audience, and you know exactly what will succeed.

18. Familiarity

“Long time no see”

“It’s been a while”

Have you ever received an email from someone you didn’t know? What was your first reaction?

An email inbox is a very personal thing, something that people don’t like anyone getting into. That’s why we hate spam mail and advertisements, because they are a nuisance and people we wouldn’t give our email address to in the first place.

If you want to get the attention of your reader, make the subject line feel personal. Use their name in the subject line, or write the subject in a way that implies you know each other. Familiarity will make people lower their guard, which means clicking on your email instead of hitting delete.

19. Emojis

“Hello :)”

“$$ The Best Way To Make A 6-Figure Income From Home $$”

Another example of email subject lines that get opened are ones that contain emojis.

Emojis are so effective, because they help to clarify the message that is being said. For example, compare these two subject lines:

“Only For You :)”

“Only For You”

In this example, the subject line without an emoji gives the reader no context. By putting a simple emoji such as a heart or smiley face, you are conveying a certain emotion to the reader. When your readers know the emotion behind a message, they are much more likely to resonate with it.

Most emails don’t use emojis in the subject line. By inserting some emojis from time to time, you’ll immediately stand out from everyone else.

20. The Biggest Mistake [Blank] Make

The idea behind this subject line is to focus on the negative to help people avoid unwanted outcomes. So what is the trick? Well, people do not like making mistakes and facing consequences.

What makes this subject line so powerful is that it doesn’t talk about just any mistake. This subject line is about the biggest mistake. This is the type of mistake that everyone tries to avoid at any cost.

How To Use LinkedIn To Get More Clients

Perhaps you’ve been wondering what’s the hype around LinkedIn all about? LinkedIn is a business-oriented service and it’s mainly used for professional networking. As a business professional, you might want to know how to use LinkedIn to get more clients?

This business platform has about 660 million users in more than 200 countries worldwide. In this article, I’m going to share the interview I had with Melonie Dodara on how to use LinkedIn to get more clients.

The interview was great as she shared so much information and insights about the secrets of LinkedIn. Melonie Dodara is a Canadian number one LinkedIn expert and an international best-selling author of the book “The LinkedIn Code”. If you’ve not read it, I highly recommend you read this book.

The Question Most People Have Is How To Use LinkedIn To Get More Clients

As you already know, Facebook still holds the number one record of users as a top social media platform and a social networking channel. However, with all the different social networks that are available, some are better than others for a certain reason and purpose.

LinkedIn is the best platform for professional networking but how to use LinkedIn to get more clients? Click To Tweet

The thing with social media is, there are two types: those for making friends and those for making money.

As Melanie said, Facebook is a wonderful social network to stay in touch with family and friends. But it’s not a platform for business professionals. This is where LinkedIn comes in. Now, you might wonder how you can use social networking platforms to bring in more clients?

Get Connected With Business Professionals And Make Money

LinkedIn needs a certain strategy to fully leverage its purpose. But before we get into the details of LinkedIn strategy, let’s first take a look at what makes this platform special.  So, if you want to know how to use LinkedIn to get more clients… Stay with me until the end.

As I said earlier, the different social network has certain reasons and purposes. LinkedIn is the number one business social network, there isn’t anything that competes with it. Unlike Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook or Instagram, which can still be used in similar ways, LinkedIn is the only Business Social Network. As such, it requires a unique strategy if you want it to bring you more clients. It doesn’t mean you have you do direct selling, sales pitching, or even promoting your products directly to clients regularly. But you do need a strategy to approach people.

LinkedIn is a “Business Social Network” and as such it is unlike any other social networking platform out there. Click To Tweet

Understand The Effectiveness Of LinkedIn

Every second, there are two new people joining LinkedIn. In 2015, the number of people on LinkedIn in Canada was 9 million. And in a recent statistic dated September 2019, the number of LinkedIn users in Canada was over 16 millionThat makes up to slightly over 44% of its entire population. However, the largest traffic is still the United States with 161 million users and about 27 million for the United Kingdom.

Apart from the large traffic on LinkedIn, the average household income of LinkedIn users is $109,000. If you’re going for a more affluent demographic – LinkedIn is perfect for you. Additionally, people are two times more confident about the content and information found on LinkedIn, which means their levels of trust are higher. That’s because, as a business social network. People assume that all content shared is professional and accurate.

LinkedIn is 277% more effective when it comes to B2B lead generation. Click To Tweet

A study of over 5,000 businesses conducted by HubSpot, showed that LinkedIn  traffic  is 277% more effective when it comes to B2B lead generation.  Its conversion rate has outranked Facebook and Twitter.

Create A Business Profile

As an entrepreneur, you must create a good impression of your brandYou see, people want to know who they are doing business with – whether it’s you as an individual or a big company or even a person in a company. What they do first when learning about someone or something new in their professional realm is that they do research. You do that too, right?

Let’s take the “High Ticket Closer Certification Program” for an example. You may have come across some videos about High Ticket Closing or maybe you’ve seen some of my Facebook and LinkedIn Ads.  I believe, the first action you took was to google “Dan Lok” and “High Ticket Closing.”

So if people search for you, what will they find? As an entrepreneur, you must have a professional profile and keep it professional across all your platforms. This is crucial. It portrays your personal brand.

Close Deals With Your Professional Profile

Imagine if you’re trying to close a big-ticket deal with a connection you recently made on LinkedIn. Now they search you on Google, only to find unpleasant photos and information about you. Unpleasant drunken pictures from a last wedding you’ve been to? Strange college memories still up there? What do you think a potential business contact would think about you after seeing some of the stuff you have on your social media profiles right now? Would they be gone right away or intrigued to get on the phone with you?

You see, as Melonie Dodaro said, you must always ask yourself this question: Are you making the kind of impression that you want to make? If not, you might want to give your profile a little more care. Your first impression is crucial when making any deals or even a connection on LinkedIn. It’s through this profile that you’re defining your personal brand and value.

If you manage to give a good impression, that’s when you think about what you can deliver. Thinking in terms of delivering value is the number one step in acquiring new clients.

Define Your Value – What Can You Deliver?

Most people think LinkedIn is mainly for posting jobs and job seekers posting their resume. That’s a big mistake!  Don’t treat LinkedIn as a job-seeking website. With the number of growth in LinkedIn users in the past years, the way you can leverage this social network has completely changed.

As Melonie said, only 16% of people using LinkedIn for job search. The rest of them, 84% of people, are using it for business. So, if you post your resume on LinkedIn, it’s not going to resonate with that audience that you want to connect with. If you’re looking to use it as a business tool, you must approach it differently.

3-Step Formula For Success

So, what Melonie has done is that she created a 3-step formula for LinkedIn success

  • Get Found
  • Attract Your Ideal Client
  • Stand Out
The key to success on LinkedIn is in this 3-step formula – Get Found, Attract and Stand Out! Click To Tweet

LinkedIn is where people will get to know you on a surface level at first. They’ll look at your experience and what kind of value you have provided to the marketplace. And if you have a resume based profile on LinkedIn – that attracts employers but not your ideal clients. Clients will not know what you can deliver that will significantly help them increase or generate their revenue.

So, when you think about how to use LinkedIn to get more clients, you must think carefully about the details in your profile. I would say this is the most crucial foundation when you start using a LinkedIn account.  Why? Because, if you want to be found on LinkedIn, you must be visible on the first page. If you’re not found on the first page – you’re invisible. You must pay attention to details, deliver value and content, and be consistent.

Connecting With Powerful And Influential People On LinkedIn

Now, you might still wonder, how to connect with powerful and influential people? As I mentioned just before, first off you must create a professional-looking profile. That way, you’ll be able to stand out among everyone else and it might be easier to get connected with your ideal clients or prospects.

If you don’t have an ideal first impression, how will you get connected with your ideal clients? Click To Tweet

You must find a way to stand out, so pay attention to the details. If you are “in sales” – what’s your niche? What makes you special? Is there something that makes you different? What value do you bring? Keep all these questions in mind as you tweak all your profiles. If you don’t create a unique profile, you’re most likely to lose leveraging this business tool.

There are many people using this platform but, in reality, 99% of people are using it very poorly. Therefore, to stand out is exceptionally easy.

Be Professional And Get Found

As Melonie mentioned, the first step is to get found. Each day, people conduct searches on specific keywords. They might be looking for a certain type of client or prospect. For example:  financial advisor, accountant, lawyer, etc… And usually, people look for someone based on referrals – people they can trust, like a financial advisor. So you can use this fact to position yourself well to be found. And as Melonie said – “Isn’t it beautiful just to get leads to find you?” With the correct use of LinkedIn, you can do just that.

So, you want to be showing up at the top of the search result. Think about what are the specific keywords that people are using and how to leverage them on your profile. The higher your rank on the search results – the better your profile will be. There are several ways to do that.

To show up on the top of the search results, you want to choose two or three specific keywords. If you’re doing business in a specific geography, you should throw in a keyword that’s based on your business.

Picking The Right Keywords

The key to picking the right keywords is thinking about the keywords that people would use. Most of the time you must think about how they are looking for what you offer. As Melonie mentioned in our interview – instead of just using “accountant” you might think about “Kelowna Account” as that might be something that people are searching for.

Think carefully – what can be your keyword? This is the most important step if you want to know about how to use LinkedIn to get more clients.

Creative Keywords Could Mislead Clients

Some people can be too creative with keywords, and it can mislead your clients. So, stick to the general basics of the right words when it comes to keywords. You have to know, not everyone on LinkedIn understands your creativity.

It’s also really important to choose your three primary keywords which best describe who you are and what you do. When you do that – you can optimize properly.

There Are 4 Places For Keywords

According to Melonie, there are 4 places for keywords. The first one is the headline. The headline holds a tremendous amount of weight in the LinkedIn algorithm – it may sound techy but it’s important if you want to find your ideal clients.

This part of your profile is meant to tell people who you are and who you’ve helped. For instance, a few keywords on your main profile, “Kelowna accountant” and or “business adviser”.  If you watch the video above, you’ll be able to see some examples that Melanie elaborates on more.

Consistency Is Key

The second place to optimize your profile with your specific keywords is in the title of your current work experience. If you want to boost your profile on the search result you can also include those keywords in your description.

Consistency is key to success - with the right and consistent use of keywords on your LinkedIn profile you can attract more clients. Click To Tweet

If you’re a business owner, chief executive or founder of a company, it’s advised not to use that as your keywords.  Because of the broadness and generalization of those words – your clients won’t be able to find you. Think about it, nobody will search for; “founder”, “business owner” or “chief executive” unless you’re a salesperson.  Therefore, choosing the right keywords is crucial to get more clients from LinkedIn.

The next place for your keyword is past work experience. This can be easy for those who have previously done what you’re doing now. I get that for some of you this might be something brand new. But there’s a little ninja trick Melonie has taught me to make all this easier.

You Can Create A Project-Based Past Experience

For example, you can craft your profile saying that you’ve worked for someone (maybe a certain company) for a short period and explain a little on your job description. It’s good to have at least one past experience that’s relative and related to what you do now as that’ll help with the search results.

Another place where you can reflect on past experiences and include keywords is your summary section. As you write it, make sure to include the same two or three keywords again. As you make these changes, you’ll be able to know how many times your profile’s been viewed and shown up in search results.

Observe Before And After

Keep an eye on how many times you show up in search results. You can use this feedback to keep looking for better words and adjusting. The best thing is that this is all on your LinkedIn profile’s home page, so you don’t even have to work hard to find this data.

When you make the changes that Melonie has suggested, the change and results in the search ranking are instant. This is how, with LinkedIn, you can be on page 50 and moved up to the first page at an instant with the right keywords.

Connect And Engage With Your Ideal Client

High Quality and original content will also boost your reputation and authority on LinkedIn. When you fix your search results, your content will be the key factor in attracting more clients.

Your profile must speak to your ideal client Click To Tweet

If you’re writing an article, make your post visible by adding them to Pulse, LinkedIn’s built-in publishing platform. If you’re already producing other types of content, you can add them to your portfolio by simply typing the links into your profile.

Here are 4 strategies you can use to create compelling content:

  • Write in first-person
  • Identify who your ideal clients are
  • Share how you can help them
  • Call To Action

Speak to your clients individually and directly. It’s always helpful to learn some copywriting skills to implement these strategies too. Any copywriter will tell you that writing in the first person is the key because it will allow you to identify your ideal clients.

Let’s say, your ideal client comes about to do a search on LinkedIn. When they land on your profile, it speaks to them directly, it resonates with them. If they read relatable stuff in the first person, they will see themselves in your profile. It will encourage them to take action. The way to get them to take action is to share how you can help them.

This is where you engage with your clients. By talking to them and asking them where and what they’re struggling with, you can help them with problems they’re facing. You can also tell them (or show) exactly how you can do that.

Speak to your target audience about your audience – not about yourself! Click To Tweet

Remember that clients and prospects will always have this question in mind – What’s in it for me? In reality, nobody cares about you, everyone cares about themselves. Everyone cares about how you can help them. So, if you make your profile all about yourself – it’s not going to resonate with anybody.

Never Forget To Have A Strong Call-To-Action

Now, if you capture the attention of your client, you have to guide them to action. This is where call-to-action comes into play.

And the final part is to have a strong call-to-action. You see, Melonie said the first place for your keyword is your headline.

Now, as soon as someone lands on your profile, what’s next? You don’t want to leave your ideal clients hanging by not having a call to action. The whole point and purpose of implementing these strategies are to get clients from LinkedIn. And if you don’t have a call-to-action, you won’t succeed.

I believe that if you don’t make the sale today, you won’t make the sale tomorrow Click To Tweet

A call to action can be:

  • Book a call with you
  • Link to your landing page
  • Link to a specific webpage
  • Get a FREE consultation
  • Register for your webinar
  • Watch this video

These are some examples of a specific call to action. It doesn’t mean they have to purchase something. It can be an excellent method for lead generation. The call-to-action will depend on your business model and your sales model. With that said, it depends all on what your goals are and what you want to achieve with each post.  That’s why you need to know your target market.

How To Know Your Target Market?

Your profile needs to be client-focused and the only way for you to be able to do that is to know your target market. If you don’t understand what their problems are and the language they use, it’s going to be challenging.

You then need to do a lot of research about ideal clients. One of the easiest ways to do that is to look at your last ten clients that have been your best clients. Who are some people you enjoyed working with? What clients did you go an extra length to help them transform their business?

You can look into common interests, industries, profits, and perhaps look at their location and dig deeper geographically. Where are most of your clients from, what are their positions in the company – in that way, you’ll get to know your ideal clients better? I’ve mentored thousands of entrepreneurs, business owners and sales professionals specifically on getting to know your ideal clients.

Communication Skill Is Important In Your Personal And Professional Life

Honestly, from the way I look at it if you have a certain communication skill, not only it’ll help you get more clients but also become a great salesperson. The best part about High Ticket Closer Certification Program is that you don’t need to be so knowledgeable about your product. Just like what Melonie said earlier – They only care about how you can help them.

So, knowing the right communication technique and skills will give you the opportunity to engage with your client with finesse. May it be to help them transform their business or generate more revenue because when you’ve mastered this skill. It will also transform your life – personal and professional.

Stand Out Significantly From Others

The more you use LinkedIn, the more you will see the value of it. You will also notice another people’s profile that’s being poorly done – they’re completely blank.

This is easy to fix – have a professional headshot. People want to see who they are dealing with – upload a professional picture of yourself. When people see a smiling face – that’s an inviting aura. To strengthen your LinkedIn profile is that you can upload a video to your profile.

It can be an introduction video or a professional video. In that way, you’re marketing yourself and showing your communication skills to your ideal clients. Talking about skills, on LinkedIn, you can add your skills and endorsement to your profile.

For example, if you have a copywriting skill that you’ve learned a few years ago, you can add that into your profile. It could be just a short certification program – add it. Any additional skills you’ve acquired in the past years will be an added advantage to your profile.

Final Thoughts On How To Use LinkedIn To Get More Clients

It’s basic psychology – we trust our social network. People trust what they see online, and if people like you then more people will like you because of that. Does that make sense?

So, you’ve followed the 3-steps here and you’ve rank #1 on LinkedIn. What’s next?

How To Create Interesting Instagram Posts That Keep People On Your Page

Are you struggling to create interesting and engaging Instagram posts? There are plenty of ways to create an interesting post, even if you’re selling a digital product that’s impossible to visualize or something that’s not glamorous.

If you’re using Instagram to grow your business, it’s essential to grow your audience and keep them engaged on your page, but how do you create interesting Instagram posts that could help you grow your business?

With over a billion people active on Instagram monthly, it’s crucial to know how to use it effectively. Instagram has become one of the favorite social media channels for many people. As you know, Instagram is a photo-sharing platform. They have 500 million daily active stories users worldwide in 2019.

If you can create interesting Instagram posts, it is a platform to grow your audience fast. So how do we do that?

For some businesses, it makes sense to establish a presence if you want to monetize on this platform. It has become a very competitive platform for those who are aiming to grow their audiences. You need to constantly find innovative ways to keep them interested. Only then, you can keep people engaged on your page.

A good and shareable post means you need to have a compelling caption. Why? Because a compelling caption draws your audience to share and stay on the page. In this article, I will share with you my Instagram secrets and on how you can create interesting Instagram posts that hook people to stay on your page.

Create Compelling Caption for Instagram Posts

Instagram is all about visuals. Not only good quality photos will capture the eyes of your audiences, but also a compelling caption will make them stay. While a good photo exhibits your brand instantly, a compelling caption explains what the photo is about and tells your audience to take action.

With that said, there are many ways to create compelling captions. It’s either you do a lot of research about your competitors and other brands, enroll in a course, or borrow ideas from other online sources. However, coming up with great ideas to generate compelling captions can be very easy.

To create compelling captions is a learnable skill. Even for someone without a digital marketing background can do this – as long as it’s relatable to your brand. It may sound easier said than done because not only does it have to be relatable, it needs to look good to be able to capture your audience’s attention as I said earlier.

If Instagram is for you and your business, watch this video on how you can grow your followers organically.

Now you must be wondering how to create compelling captions.

Are You Offering Value or Persuading Your Readers?

Like any other skill you learn, it’s either from enroll for a course, engage a mentor to teach you, learn from tutorial videos, read blog articles, or read some books on how to create interesting Instagram posts.

To be able to write something that’s so compelling is not an overnight success. For those that have been creating captions for social media, they are experts in digital marketing and if you’re one, you can relate to this.

Now, what if you’re a copywriter who wants to learn content writing? Or you would like to learn more about copywriting?

As a copywriter, first you have to understand the difference between copywriting and content writing. Both are important to know for marketing as they have different purposes, but the differences have a fine line between them.

Content writing is about offering value while copywriting is about persuading the reader.  So, knowing the difference will be able to help keep people on your page, depending on your brand and niche.

As I said earlier, like any other skill, you can always learn copywriting if you want to venture into online business. Maybe you have an interesting product that you want to share with the world. But you have little to no knowledge about Instagram. Honestly, I know how you feel, and I can relate to that. That’s why, in this article, I’m going to share some Instagram secrets that got me from zero to 1.5 million followers.

Using Hashtags Is One Interesting Way to Get Attention

Don’t neglect using hashtags. One interesting way to get attention and gain new followers is by using relevant hashtags. With that said, you’ll not only get to keep your organic followers on your page but also new people. Although you can basically hashtag any word that comes out of your mind, if you’re marketing for a certain brand or company, doing research is an important factor to find out what’s the top trending hashtags. Of course, you want to find out what’s related to your topic or brand.

Hashtags have great connectivity element which connects users who aren’t connected to one another. Click To Tweet

No matter how interesting a hashtag can be, limit to 4 hashtags. You don’t want to flood your audience with too many hashtags. It has to tie with the conversation of different users into one stream. So, if your account is public, anyone who searched for that particular hashtag may find your Instagram post.

Hashtags have a great connectivity element. It connects users who aren’t connected to one another. This means people who are interested in the same topics, brands, meetings, and events. They will be able to find you through a hashtag.

Now, why limit to 4 hashtags? If you use a string of hashtags, people will notice and they might think you’re just looking to gain new followers (it’s like spamming). They would get the wrong idea so use it sparingly.

Use High Quality Images

Stock images are probably the easiest and fastest way to find high quality images. Even though they have a bit of a bad reputation recently, that doesn’t mean that you can’t use stock images. However, not all stock images are perfect for your niche. Although some can help you create a varied feed, if it’s not given a prime spot to your feed, they can be bad for your branding if that is the case.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words. Click To Tweet

When you’re looking for ideas online, be aware of the differences between commercial and editorial licensing. Especially when you download an image with a quote or a caption. Legal action can be taken against you, so beware of using an image improperly. That’s why understanding all of the rules is important. Many digital marketers neglect to understand the danger of acquiring stock images, even though most of them are easily downloadable for free.

According to HubSpot. High quality stock photos don’t have to come hand-in-hand with a hassle of a high price tag. They’ve compiled 20 of the best free stock photo sites for you to use in 2020.

Here is the list of the best 20.

  • Negative Space
  • Death to Stock
  • Picjumbo
  • Stokpic
  • Kaboompics
  • Startup Stock Photos
  • Freerange
  • LibreShot
  • Fancy Crave
  • Unsplash
  • StockSnap.io
  • SplitShire
  • Life of Pix
  • HubSpot
  • Pexels
  • Gratisography
  • Jay Mantri
  • ISO Republic
  • New Old Stock
  • Pixabay

If you have a bit of budget to spend, you can get better quality images and have access to a wider variety. But bear in mind, the recommended dimensions of an Instagram post, it’s at least 1080p and aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 4.5.

Post Consistently At The Right Times

If you’ve watched the video I shared in the beginning, I said to post at least once a day or maybe 2. Don’t over-post as that is a surefire way to turn off your existing followers. You want to stay fresh and relevant to your audience.

On top of that, it’s critical to know when the best time is to do what kind of post on Instagram. With the recent growth to one billion monthly active users on Instagram, the median engagement rate is 1.6%. More and more people are leaning towards segmentation, because it provides a more satisfying journey to your customers. So, to fully understand your market when creating your Instagram post is crucial.

Now, you might have this question in mind, “why do I need to segment my audience?” Well, segmenting your audience will provide you more focus and authenticity. This gives a more personal experience because the Instagram algorithm prioritizes certain posts. With that said, you’ll want to know those key statistics on the best time for your Instagram post.

Use Instagram Stories

As I said in the beginning, 500 million people use Instagram stories daily and we’re talking about worldwide. So, can you imagine, the traffic in an hour? I have 1.5 million followers, that’s only 0.003% of the total number of people.

So, if you can create an interesting and compelling Instagram post, people would share your post across and in addition, it keeps them on your page. Instagram stories have become very popular. Not only is it interesting, but it’s also attracting people in an engaging way. Why? Because stories that are on Instagram only last for 24 hours on your page and usually, people are always curious about what you’re up to. Especially when you have a new product and service.

The reason behind people’s curiosity is that they don’t want to feel left out. That’s why it’s interesting.

When you tell your audience what you’re up to. It shows more authenticity and builds trust among your audience. By doing that, it’ll help you increase the number of followers and engagement rates.

Having said that, when creating Instagram stories. Tell stories instead of preaching marketing missives. Because if you want to keep people on your page. You should captivate your audience through compelling stories, images, videos, and words. Become a storyteller.

People are mostly curious, and they don’t like to be left out. So, telling stories is one of the best ways to keep people engaged on your page.

Be Consistent On Your Feed Visually

As you know, Instagram is all about visuals and to create interesting Instagram posts, keep your visuals consistent. Experiment with profile colors, it’s the simplest and most popular way to make a stylish account. On top of that, it’s incredibly effective.

You can repeat the same color theme in different ways using objects and filters. Or background color but post photos in one colored theme as it reflects on your brand. You could change your theme anytime you want, as long as you are consistent with your feed. Besides that, you’re giving your followers a fresh new look at your products.

Users prefer to experience authentic expression and diverse perspectives. Which means, people today want to see something that’s more natural-looking. For example, replace your high-saturation filters and perfectly positioned item with candid shots.

Instagram is all about visuals. Create interesting Instagram posts by experimenting with profile colors. Click To Tweet

Again, keep your feed visually consistent. So, to achieve a consistent look, using photo editing apps is the key. Here are some of the best photo editing apps.

  1. Snapped
  2. Afterlight 2
  3. Prisma Photo Editor
  4. Adobe Photoshop Express
  5. Foodie
  6. Adobe Lightroom CC
  7. Canva
  8. Adobe Photoshop Fix
  9. Visage
  10. Enlight Photofox

Now, I’ve shared some of the best photo editing apps. Did you know that videos will make up more than 80% of all consumer internet traffic by 2021? This means you could also add a couple of videos on your feed.

Leverage Instagram Video Formats

From Instagram stories to standalone 60-minute videos, consider Instagram stories’ live video options. Maybe a sneak peek about your new products or service. This will add authenticity to your Instagram posts which will also keep people on your page.

While video continues to dominate the online space, according to Instagram, 60% of stories are viewed with sound on. So, what does this mean? When 40% are viewed without the sound on, subtitles have become essential for marketers. Now, having subtitles delivered alongside your visuals would enable your core message to your audience.

Knowing the difference between copywriting and content writing for a copywriter is important. On top of that, captioning a video increases average video view time by 12% (Research from Facebook)

Although it’s not part of Instagram’s best practices for stories, it’s more about how compelling your caption is that keeps people on your page.

Use Emoji With Instagram Post

Emojis are used by most people across online platforms. Such as, messaging apps, social media and so on. Even for emojis, you need to create a strategy on how to use it effectively but when it comes to Instagram posts, use emojis because it catches people’s attention and it has a more fun engagement.

The power of compelling words extends to “Emojis.” Click To Tweet

Emojis can sum up a sentence with a dash of personality. In fact, little emojis can make a huge difference when you’re trying to convey a message. On top of that, it can also increase your click-through rates and engagement levels.

Include a Call-To-Action (CTA)

On any social media platform, always include a call-to-action. This gives your audience the answer to what’s next? If you don’t have a call to action or some form of a close, you’re most likely to lose a potential customer or further engagement.

Your whole point of creating an interesting Instagram post is to keep people on your page as long as you can. As a result, they continue scrolling on your profile or visit your website (if you have one on your bio) and they could share some of your content across other channels.

Followers may love your Instagram ads and share your content but make sure you lead them to the most powerful action. With that said, this last action is the most direct way to increase interaction. This means, you’ve managed to keep your audience right to the end of your goal and it’s time to let your audience make a decision.

So, a clear and concise call-to-action is critical to tell your audience what they have to do next. A call-to-action can be leading them to your profile or a certain landing page. It can also be a website, a comment or even a request for an emoji.

How to Succeed In Business As An Introverted Entrepreneur

Most people agree that being an extrovert is very helpful when running your own business. It’s usually not difficult to make connections and to build relationships with clients. But what do you do if you are an introverted entrepreneur?

To know if you’re an introvert or extrovert, take this quiz.

Have you ever considered how your personality affects your professional success? Are anxiety and shyness standing in the way of maximizing your potential?

You might find the world of entrepreneurship overwhelming. It requires a lot more interactions with others than you may be comfortable. Perhaps you tend to prefer isolation and working alone. Running a business as an introvert can truly be overwhelming. But are you aware of the advantages of being an introverted entrepreneur?

In this article, we will share with you some of the secrets of succeeding in business as an introverted entrepreneur.

Understanding introversion

Introverts usually enjoy thinking, reading, writing. They get their energy from these introverted activities. Extroverts, however, thrive in larger social activities. Thinking is collective discussion; reading is discussing with others, and writing is sharing with others. Extroverts like to be out and about, socializing, and feeding off the energy of others.

Now that’s a very literal and archaic way to look at it.

Today, we know that there are many levels of introversion. Moreover, most people are neither fully extroverted nor fully introverted. We find ourselves somewhere in between and at times, leaning into one side or another.

Many people, especially entrepreneurs, are inherent introverts but tend to adapt. Over time, they develop more balanced personalities. They become ambiverts and exhibit extroversion and introversion.

Perhaps you scroll down entrepreneurs’ social media accounts, seduced by the images of success on luxury. You may even be thinking, “That could never be me – I am too much in my own head.”

“Silence is a source of great strength.” Lao Tzu

But you are very wrong. You are never too introverted to succeed in business – in fact, you may even have certain advantages.

In order to unlock those potentials, you need to first reflect on what you think a leader should be. Can you be one? Why not? You need to envision yourself as a leader – and then, locate the tools and resources you need to thrive.

To do this, you have to identify your power. Then, use the right tools to turn introversion into a powerful advantage.

And the last thing you should do as an introverted entrepreneur is to try to “overcome” your personality. We cannot outgrow ourselves: we can only become better versions of who we have always been.

If you want to see the aspects of being a natural introvert as unique tools for business success, then read on.

Choose your industry wisely

unlock your potential

People like J.K. Rowling, Bill Gates, and Steven Spielberg have one thing in common: introversion. Understanding your personality is actually key to success. It is also necessary for the crucial first step: choosing your industry.

Whatever it is you choose to do, you need to have a passion for. However, passion alone is not enough. To reach the peak of our potentials, we need to seek out an environment that will welcome and nourish us.

Forcing yourself to fit in is going to hold you back and could be a source of anxiety and depression.

The first question you need to ask yourself is what kind of work makes me happy? Once you have an idea of what this might be, you will be able to search for your ideal industry.

But identifying the type of work that makes you happy is not enough. You need to also consider how you want to be working – that is, choose your work environment.

Perhaps you prefer quiet, isolated work environments. You may thrive working from home, which is not the case for many people these days.

Online work is just one of the opportunities for you to pursue. As an entrepreneur, working online means less in-person interaction. You can disconnect at your leisure and recharge as needed. You no longer have to feel anxious about turning inward, overthinking what to say, or silence on a regular basis.

In fact, choosing an industry with an anchor online may allow you to excel. This is why most of Dan Lok’s best copywriting students are introverts – they prefer to work alone and in isolation.

Another common thing is looking into studio work. There are many industries out there – such as music production, curation, or design – that may be perfect for introverts.

Now, your success in the chosen industry depends on maximizing your potential. To do so – you must know where your strengths lie.

Play on your strengthsaccept you are an introvert entrepreneur

As an introvert, you likely prioritize time alone and self-reflection. This means you have a deeper sense of self and value self-knowledge.

This is crucial because without self-knowledge, you cannot know your natural strengths. Without playing on those strengths, you are not going to reach the height of your potential. You need to know what your power is, to lead. What are your most important strengths?

You may not even be aware that some of the most successful people you know of are introverts. And you know some of their stories because they are unusual and against the grain. They found their unique strengths and unlocked their true potentials.

You may be asking – how do I know if I have the potential to unlock?

Chances are, you have already been pursuing your strengths – perhaps only quietly and in private. For example, many introverts tend to be dreamers and to place a lot of value on imagination. Their minds are natural storytellers. These introverts tend to have an affinity for writing. They often seek out industries where they can hone their skill – such as copywriting.

This is also why introverts tend to be natural innovators.

They choose to stand apart from society and try something entirely new. But that does not mean they stand alone. They usually seek out like-minded people to be their partners.

Find an extroverted partnerintrovert entrepreneur should partner with an extrovert

Innovation is always a fusion of some kind. Most times, “the best of two kinds” is joined to create something larger and exciting. It is important to have like-minded people close, but it is crucial that they have a different approach.

Put simply – a balance of introversion and extroversion is key to business success.

Your strengths should be complementary. If you thrive in quiet and isolation, you might want to partner up with someone who enjoys teamwork.

One of the best examples of what happens when this balance is struck may be right under our noses: Apple. Steve Wozniak (an introvert) and Steve Jobs (an extrovert), brought their personalities together and created Apple. Steve Jobs was in charge of marketing. Wozniak focused primarily on product development. One’s extroversion and the other’s introversion made them strong beyond measure.

You and your partner need to not only make use of your own strengths but to also know when to play on the other’s. You will inspire each other to grow and unlock your higher potential.

Once you build trust with your partner, you will want to work together to build a strong network. You will each have to locate and make use of your own unique resources.

Connect to other introverts in your industryFrom toastmasters to ted talk

If you find an extroverted partner, you may think that they will be the ones doing most of the outreach and building connections. This thinking may be your downfall.

What you want to do is build a network on your own end. Reach out to other introverted entrepreneurs in your industry.

If you are first starting out, you may be thinking there aren’t many introverts in your industry – wrong. It is less likely you will meet them at social gatherings and see much on their social media. And this is how you know you want to reach out.

The more you’re out of your comfort zone, the more you learn. The more you learn, the more you grow. Click To Tweet

Be confident that using your natural approach is the best way to go. You do not need to try to outspeak somebody else. Chances are, you are a natural listener and a keen observer. This means your approach will appeal to another such individual.

You will be able to make spontaneous connections with other introverts. This is usually because neither of you seeks out external affirmation. This is important in business. It means you are less likely to base your relationships on the competition. Because of this, you each will be able to see the benefits of a friendship without getting into each other’s way. Connections with other introverts will feel natural. They will also inspire and push you.

These connections will also likely be less exhausting. Being an introverted entrepreneur among extroverts can be draining. It is important for introverts to have time for themselves.

Take time to rechargeintrovert entrepreneur needs to recharge

Have you ever heard the term introvert hangover? Your feeling the need for a time-out from social environments is a very real thing. It is a consequence of social overstimulation.

Your body and mind may be telling you they’ve had enough, and that you need to retreat into yourself to recharge. But being an entrepreneur, you probably often try to “power through” and satisfy other demands before taking time off.

You may not know that recharging actually works. Your mind may be trying to tell you it needs to process information in solitude. Once you got rid of your ‘introvert hangover,’ you will go back to work with a fresh attitude and new ideas, so you are actually gaining and not losing steam.

Down-time does not have to be dull. You may choose to watch educational movies, write in your journal or meditate. You could also learn more about the power of silence and how to amplify your strengths.

Taking the time to recharge means allowing achievements to set in. It also means unlocking more potential. Click To Tweet

As you unwind and reflect, you may also choose to hone your skills.

“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” - Thomas Jefferson

One skill all introverts should hone

The ability to seal the deal is what makes a good entrepreneur. As an introvert, you are likely able to reach people on a more personal level. simply because you are a listener. And this is invaluable when it comes to closing. To make sure you can unlock your full potential – you should make sure your closing skills are strong.

For many introverts in business, closing is already a strength – you just need to keep nurturing yours. Dan Lok is also an introvert, which is why he put together The Perfect Closing Script. This is like a cheat sheet that you can just keep in front of you during your next sales conversation and allow yourself to thrive in your chosen industry.

Think of this script as a secret weapon for introverts. The more you practice, the more useful a weapon it becomes.

Done right, your LinkedIn profile and LinkedIn strategy can be a great way to attract the high-ticket clients you want. Whether you’re offering a specific product or professional service, the best clients are the ones who can afford your premium prices and wish to establish a long-term business relationship with you.

LinkedIn is also one of the best social media platforms for lead generation and closing sales. That’s why a thoughtful LinkedIn strategy should definitely be part of your social media marketing strategy, to market your product or service to the right prospects.

LinkedIn is different from other social media platforms, because the goal on LinkedIn is not to attract more friends – it’s to attract professionals with money. In other words, the goal is to attract business professionals who will buy your product or service.

meeting a high-ticket client

Why is Your LinkedIn Strategy So Important?

You might be wondering, Why is it key to leverage LinkedIn to grow your business? Well, for starters, LinkedIn has over 300 million monthly active users, and over 40% of the world’s millionaires network on LinkedIn.

This means that LinkedIn is a great place to find upscale, high-ticket clients. The question is, does everyone use their LinkedIn profile to its highest potential? Absolutely not.

Even though LinkedIn is a fantastic way to advance your career, grow your contact list and grow your business, many people don’t know the proper way to leverage LinkedIn. In fact, most people don’t know how to develop and implement an effective LinkedIn strategy.

These people are missing out on many business opportunities that would otherwise be at their fingertips if they implemented the right LinkedIn strategy.

Is There a LinkedIn Strategy to Get Your Profile Promoted?

Creating an attractive and professional LinkedIn profile is just the first step when it comes to marketing yourself or your business on LinkedIn.

The next step of your LinkedIn strategy is even more important, which is figuring out the best way to get your LinkedIn profile promoted.

What’s the point of creating the perfect LinkedIn profile if nobody really sees it? Getting your LinkedIn profile promoted means you’re getting more eyeballs on your profile. This extra exposure can lead to more business opportunities.

There are several different strategies that will help you get your LinkedIn profile promoted to other LinkedIn users. These strategies include constantly updating your profile so that other users get a notification about your updates, participating in group discussions, optimizing your profile for SEO, commenting on various LinkedIn content, writing original articles on LinkedIn, advertising your profile via paid ads, distributing your LinkedIn posts on other social channels, and more.

Let’s discuss these strategies one by one, so that you can get a clear idea of how to maximize LinkedIn’s benefits to market yourself or your business.

Someone optimizing their linkedin profile

Optimizing Your LinkedIn Profile for Search Results

What you must understand is that LinkedIn is essentially a search engine. Your prospects might be using LinkedIn to search for someone exactly like you, as we speak. Do you want them to find you? If you want your LinkedIn profile to get more exposure and show up in search results, what should you do? Spend the time optimizing your LinkedIn profile.

To optimize your LinkedIn profile, certain strategic keywords, keyphrases and terminology must be used throughout your profile. I want you to think about the keywords and terms your prospects would search for, to find someone with your skills and expertise.

These keywords should be distributed throughout your profile to maximize your profile’s visibility and exposure.

Distribute these strategic keywords in your headlines, your bio, your job descriptions, experience descriptions, status updates, and within your other LinkedIn content such as the articles you post.

Many of the keywords you use will be the skills and qualifications you possess, such as copywriting, social media marketing, sales, etc.

Furthermore, since skills are such a major search option, you’ll also want to get your skills endorsed by other LinkedIn users who can verify that you do in fact possess those skills.

Optimizing your LinkedIn profile also requires that your profile is not private, and that you’ve completed all sections of your profile. Don’t forget to fill in your location, for example. Many people will be specifically searching for someone to hire in their location.

Even if someone wants to hire you for remote work, they may prefer to consult with you in person, first. That’s just one of the many reasons why people search by location.

You’re also optimizing your profile by adding a photo, keeping your profile updated, being active on LinkedIn regularly, and being robust in your descriptions.

Write Engaging Articles on LinkedIn as Part of Your LinkedIn Strategy

When you post an original article you’ve written on LinkedIn, you’re essentially posting a blog post. Valuable, engaging, and informative blog posts will promote your LinkedIn profile. Why? Because if someone reads your article on LinkedIn and they genuinely value your content, they’ll want to learn more about the person who wrote the article. So, they’ll click to view your LinkedIn profile.

They might even share your LinkedIn article with their network. Some of the people they shared it with will also click to view your LinkedIn profile.

Writing valuable content in the form of LinkedIn articles is a very clever component of your LinkedIn strategy.

In these articles, you’ll want to provide valuable advice and information that demonstrates how knowledgeable and skilled you are. This is how you gain credibility and attract those high-ticket clients. You can even soft-sell your services within your LinkedIn articles, and incorporate a strategic call-to-action within the articles you post.

Ensure your content is original, and that you’re not repeating the same advice your readers will have already read again and again. Provide unique advice, expert knowledge, and make your content engaging instead of dull or dry.

By writing intelligent, informative, and valuable content, what are you doing? You are positioning yourself as an expert. Essentially, you’re establishing yourself as an authority in your niche by posting valuable content.

When potential clients read your articles on LinkedIn, they will be impressed with your knowledge and they’ll want to work with you. As I said before, they might even share your article with their network. All of these shares are a great way to get your profile promoted and noticed by more people.

It’s crucial to write share-worthy content on LinkedIn, and post content often.

Write Compelling Status Updates

Articles are one thing, but status updates are another important type of LinkedIn content that attracts attention to your profile.

LinkedIn gives status updates lots of exposure, but the first couple of sentences matter the most. When LinkedIn users are scrolling through their feed, they’ll see many status updates. Most of these status updates, however, won’t attract their attention.

Since while scrolling through the feed, the users only see the first couple of sentences of your status update, you must write a compelling first sentence. Crafting an attention-grabbing first sentence of your status should definitely be part of your LinkedIn strategy. Otherwise, people will just keep scrolling and won’t click to view your profile or bother to read your full status.

Make that first sentence so compelling, scrollers will want to see more, and your profile will get more views.

Organize an Engagement Pod on LinkedIn to Game the LinkedIn Algorithm

LinkedIn engagement pods are groups of people who have an arrangement with each other to engage with each other’s posts and articles on LinkedIn. For example, as soon as you publish a new status update or post a new article, you’d notify all the members of your engagement pod. As per the agreement, the members of your pod will comment and engage with your new post.

When a LinkedIn post gets good engagement within the first hour that it’s posted, what happens? LinkedIn increases the visibility of that post.

In other words, the engagement from your engagement pod causes LinkedIn’s algorithm to acknowledge your content as great content. LinkedIn then promotes your content in the LinkedIn feed to other users.

Utilize Your Copywriting Skills for Your LinkedIn Strategy

Acquiring copywriting skills will help you create a LinkedIn profile that gets noticed. Copywriting skills help you write a profile that is tailored to your target audience.

Copywriting is a form of engaging, persuasive writing that gets the reader to take action. Perhaps the action they’ll take is share your profile with a colleague or contact you with a job offer.

In general, by implementing copywriting skills in your LinkedIn profile and posts, more people will feel compelled to engage with your profile.

Great copywriting is all about writing content that resonates with the people who read it, and persuades them to take the desired action. Copywriters know how to write in a way that speaks their target audience’s language. By acknowledging your prospects’ pain points, and describing how you can help them, you’re drawing them in.

Copywriters also know how to write titles and headlines that are compelling and magnetic, and get people to click on the content and read it.

Many people write a LinkedIn post or profile bio that seems to only boast about how skilled they are. This is not the right LinkedIn strategy, because you’d be failing to compel prospects by acknowledging their wants and needs. Writing about your skills, strengths and expertise needs must always be tied into how you can help your prospects.

Use Hashtags on LinkedIn to Increase Your Visibility

Not very many people use hashtags as part of their LinkedIn strategy, but it is an effective practice. Using hashtags expands your reach on LinkedIn, and increases visibility to your profile.

When you create an update on LinkedIn to share with your network, you can add hashtags which will help people discover your profile.

This way, what you post will show up in hashtag feeds for the particular hashtags you used.

If you write a LinkedIn post about copywriting, for example, you can add the hashtag #copywriting. LinkedIn recommends that you try to limit your hashtag use to three hashtags per post. Don’t overdo it.

You can also add hashtags directly to your LinkedIn profile. Be sure to tailor these hashtags to your target audience. Only use select few hashtags that make sense for what you’re offering to your target audience.

You’ll have to do some research on which hashtags are trending and relevant within your niche area of expertise.

Get Your LinkedIn Profile Promoted with a Trending Post

LinkedIn recently added a feature that notifies you that your recent LinkedIn post is trending. When your post is trending, it means your LinkedIn profile is being promoted to a lot of LinkedIn users. So, how do you accomplish this?

For starters, it helps to use a trending hashtag and write about trending and relevant topics.

It’s tough to generate leads through your LinkedIn content if not enough people see the content you post. That’s why achieving ‘trending’ status will help you get more eyeballs on your content, thus generating more leads.

The best way to write a trending post is to do your research. Speak to current trends, and include current industry insight. Don’t forget to incorporate the most recent statistics or data on the trend in question.

Advertise Your LinkedIn Profile to Promote Yourself

LinkedIn advertising can be very effecting. You can customize your ad to boost engagement, profile visibility, and your overall reach on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn ads allow you to launch a targeted campaign quickly and easily to promote your LinkedIn profile. You can set your own budget and choose your ad format. You can also stop your ad at any time using the Campaign Manager.

It also helps that you can get very specific when it comes to selecting your target audience. Your target audience is who you want to see your ad, as in, your ideal prospect. There is a wide variety of criteria you can use to narrow down your ideal audience so that your advertising budget isn’t wasted on the wrong audience.

Distribute Your LinkedIn Posts on Various Social Platforms

A key component of a LinkedIn strategy is a distribution strategy. Instead of paid ads, you can promote your LinkedIn profile yourself, using your own social media channels. Your distribution strategy includes sharing your LinkedIn posts on other social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. This way, your social media followers on these other social platforms will get a chance to check out your LinkedIn profile.

In particular, some people post teaser content on their other social channels. Teaser content basically just says “read more here” and directs those people to the LinkedIn post for those who want to read the rest of the content.

It’s important to share your LinkedIn posts on your other social networks, because you want as many people as possible to engage with your LinkedIn post.

The LinkedIn algorithm measures the level of engagement your post receives from the public, and this greatly effects your post’s visibility. In other words, LinkedIn buries posts that don’t generate any engagement from users.

This means that your posts won’t appear in user’s feeds or be viewed by many people. LinkedIn doesn’t want to show its users poor-quality content. The algorithm thinks that zero engagement means the content is of poor quality.

Engage with Other LinkedIn Users

Engage, engage, engage. If you want to be noticed on LinkedIn, a good LinkedIn strategy to always keep in mind is to engage with other people’s content on LinkedIn.

Comment on people’s status updates and articles. Congratulate people when LinkedIn notifies you that someone has a new job. Be friendly, likable and personable in your comments. This makes people want to visit your profile or even return the favor by engaging with your posts.

Additionally, the more you comment on other people’s content, the more exposure you’re getting on LinkedIn.

You can even join certain groups or discussions on LinkedIn, and engage in a way that promotes your skills by showcasing your expertise in your comments.

The Most Important LinkedIn Content Strategy For Your Personal Brand

What is the most important LinkedIn content strategy? Many people already focus their content marketing efforts on other social media platforms, other than LinkedIn.

But on LinkedIn, there is also a lot of potential for content marketing. My team and I tried different approaches on LinkedIn and noticed something.

The difference between LinkedIn and other social media channels is this: The rate on which a post dies is a lot slower.

Let’s take Instagram as an example. When you post a piece of content it gets the most engagement within the first hour after being posted. If you don’t get many likes or comments fast, the post will die down. It’s all about those first few hours. So, content on Instagram is relatively short-lived.

LinkedIn is currently very different. That’s why content marketing on LinkedIn is something you should absolutely consider. Especially if you want to build your personal brand in your niche.

So, what is the most important LinkedIn content strategy? How can you build your social brand?

Is Copywriting The Key To Your LinkedIn Content Strategy?

In my opinion, to know and utilize copywriting is the most important LinkedIn content strategy. What does that mean?

Copywriting is a skill that allows you to persuade others through your written words. If you know copywriting, you know to write in a way that gets others to act.

On LinkedIn, there are two important chances to use copywriting: Your posts (updates) and your content (articles on LinkedIn).

If you know some principles and rules of copywriting your written content will go up in engagement. You will know exactly how to position your personal brand, too.

Articles on LinkedIn are a lot like blog posts. Profile posts, on the other hand, are more like traditional social media ads.

How To Write Engaging LinkedIn Posts

How do you write a good LinkedIn post? A great way to start is giving your posts these three parts: a hook, the main content and the call-to-action.

First of all, your post needs a hook. A hook is something that draws the reader in. It could be an interesting question or an unusual claim that you are making. Anything that stops them from scrolling and actually gets them to read your article.

Remember though that on LinkedIn, most people aren’t looking for light entertainment. They are looking for content that makes their life easier or is helpful to them in some way. They are looking for value or useful knowledge. So really deliver value in your posts.

The way LinkedIn posts work is that you will only see the first three sentences on the feed. Then comes the “open more” button. You want to make sure your hook is right at the beginning, so the reader actually clicks on the “open more” button.

Good copy is crafted in a way that the reader is guided from one sentence to the next.

ortant-LinkedIn-Content-Strategy-For-Your-Personal-Brand-Graphic-01

Before they noticed they read your whole post and want to engage with it.

After the hook, you could tell an interesting story or give valuable information to the reader. Something so that they actually want to read on.

You also always want to have a call to action at the end of your posts. The call to action tells the reader what they should do next. Is there a link they should click? Should they leave a comment? Share your post with a friend? Clearly tell the reader what you want them to do exactly.

So as you see, a LinkedIn post looks like a typical social media ad.

But as not many people are actually posting content on LinkedIn yet.

That’s why it’s a great chance to get a lot of engagement. It should definitely be part of your LinkedIn content strategy.

How To Write World-Class LinkedIn Articles

The second piece of written content in LinkedIn are articles. They are very similar to blog posts.

When you write an article on LinkedIn, it’s a great idea to keep sharing them in your posts too. This way your articles will get more attention.

In your articles, you want to give valuable advice to your readers. Keep in mind who your audience is. You will mostly communicate with other business owners or self-employed people. They are on LinkedIn to expand their network and possibly to find jobs.

It’s a very different audience than on most other social media channels. So don’t go ahead and copy your Facebook posts on LinkedIn. Instead, keep your audience in mind and write for them.

Focus on your niche to build up a strong personal brand. Really think about what you want to portrait. Position yourself as an expert through your content.

Articles are usually longer than posts. However, they shouldn’t be long-winded. In articles, you don’t want to do academic writing. Keep it conversational. It’s best to write in the language of the audience in your niche.

If you make it sound like a scientific paper, most readers will scroll past it or stop reading in-between. Why is that?

Because, on social media, people aren’t using their full attention. They scroll through their feed rather mindlessly. If your copy is too hard to read, they won’t bother.

The Importance of Copywriting

The thing with copywriting is, most people don’t know how important it is. They think it’s enough to quickly write out a post.

But, writing something on the go isn’t a content strategy. Copywriting is not like the writing you learned in school.

Actually, you sometimes break the rules of traditional writing in order to sound more conversational. Copywriting isn’t about being academically correct. It’s about engaging the reader and get them to take action.

Copywriting is most prominent in ads and sales letters. But it’s also valuable for your LinkedIn content strategy.

I personally started out in copywriting. I see how most people don’t really understand how copy works. It’s about captivating people and it’s closely linked to marketing.

That’s why when you learn the skill of copywriting you also will understand marketing on a deeper level.

It’s not enough to quickly write out a text. You have to understand your niche and target audience first. Then tailor your content to them.

So, you might want to learn how people get engaged and re-engaged by your written words.

If you use the principles of copywriting in your LinkedIn content strategy, your engagement will skyrocket.

Leverage Videos on LinkedIn

Videos are another great piece of content on LinkedIn. Especially, as there aren’t as many videos yet as on other social media platforms.

So this is a great time to start out. No matter if you are new to video making or a novice who is used to making videos.

LinkedIn videos produced some impressive numbers of engagement:

  • more than 300 million impressions on the platform
  • three times more engagement than text-posts
  • videos are five times more likely to start a conversation between LinkedIn members

For your own videos, you want to make sure you know exactly what you want to portrait. Be yourself, but highlight the parts of your personality that fit with your audience.

If your clients tend to be more professional then you want to make sure to dress professionally and the camera is set right. Even the camera angle is important.

For business, it’s best if the camera angle is going up. You don’t want to be looked down on. Also pay attention to your body language, mimic, and gestures.

Keep in mind, you are on LinkedIn and the users there value a certain type of content.

LinkedIn is Different From Youtube

In youtube videos, most people are a bit more hyped. It’s okay to be more casual and outgoing. On LinkedIn, you might want to tone it down a bit. You don’t want to turn off your potential contacts.

Really be mindful of who your clientele is and what you want to appear like in your videos.

Even for videos, you want to follow the principles of copywriting. Maybe script out what you are going to say. Don’t read out your script though, you want to stay natural and engaging. Click To Tweet

Don’t be over the top, but don’t sound a robot either. Be a human being that has something valuable to say.

Again, you want to know your audience and what kind of words they would use. What kind of person do they see as an authority? What topics are they interested in? What will stop them from scrolling and watch your video?

If you focus on them it will allow you to build a strong personal brand.

What Kind of Content Does Well on LinkedIn?

When it comes to content, you want to be original and valuable. Don’t repeat the advice that everybody else has already posted. Or if you have to, add a different angle to it.

Original content is interesting and a great way to build your personal brand.

Nobody likes boring stuff. Keep it fresh and engaging for your readers.

Again, it all comes down to good copywriting.

Also, don’t be too self-centered in your content. Yes, you want to position yourself as an expert, but that doesn’t mean you want to boast.

You can position yourself as an expert by actually caring about your readers and adding value to them.

If you only talk about yourself in your posts, your readers will get bored. Really think about what’s in for them.

An Underrated LinkedIn Strategy: Hashtags

Hashtags are another thing you want to add to your LinkedIn content strategy. They are severely underused on LinkedIn – which means there is a lot of opportunities.

It’s most common to use hashtags on your posts. So, if you write a post on sales, for example, you can add the hashtag #sale.

But your hashtag shouldn’t be only in your post- Also put it in your comments when you comment back on other people. It’s gonna trend and your name will keep popping up in your industry.

You can also put hashtags in your LinkedIn profile. Put it anywhere, where it makes sense. You don’t want to spam people but you want your name on posts that get trending.

If your name keeps coming up in trending posts, you will get known in your niche on LinkedIn.

Which hashtags to use exactly is a question of marketing. Again, know the audience you want to attract. What hashtags are popular and relevant in your niche?

Increase Your Network on LinkedIn

Another vital part of your LinkedIn content strategy is to expand your network.

Whether it’s followers or mutual connections, for LinkedIn, every connection you have counts. So really work on getting a bigger network.

One thing that is so great about LinkedIn is that it is relatively easy to reach users in other people’s networks. If a person engages with your content, that piece of content might show up in their network. So you can really branch out into other networks.

And the more people are in your network, the more people you can reach in their network. It almost sounds like an MLM – thankfully it’s not. But this is how LinkedIn is set up. If you know and understand this part, you can see how important networking is on this platform.

So, by posting valuable content that is very engaging you expand your network. And because you have a bigger network now, the next piece of content gets even more engagement.

Do you see why this is so powerful to build your personal brand?

This way you will get well known in your niche. Your name keeps coming up on relevant topics in your sector. Others will see you as an authority in your field.

Choose The Top Trending Material

Now you published all that amazing content. You’ll likely see that some posts, articles or videos got a lot of engagement. Maybe it got many comments or got shared a lot.

You want to pay attention to which posts were trending. This means the readers do resonate with something you said. You managed to position yourself as an authority and expert in your industry.

Now you want to go ahead and copy that post on your LinkedIn profile for several reasons. It re-engages people back into your LinkedIn content. Also, it keeps your post alive. If you don’t do this the post or piece of content might die. But if people re-engage, it goes back up and might even show up in their network all over again.

So that’s a huge advantage of putting what already worked back into your profile and have it re-trend again.

Monitor Your Performance

Now I said that content on LinkedIn doesn’t die down as fast as content on other social media platforms.

Still, your post has to perform well within the first few hours after you published it. In those hours after posting only a part of your network sees the post. If they react well to it, your reach expands.

If none of your connections engage with your post, it will die immediately. It won’t even get a chance to trend. That’s why it’s so important to know a bit about copywriting. An engaging copy will get your content to actually be seen. Copywriting will also help to keep your posts alive.

So pay close to attention to your posts early after it was published. But even later, keep monitoring your content. If you notice some of your posts aren’t performing well, you can learn from that and adjust your strategy.

And of course, also monitor which posts are doing especially well. Find out what made these posts so good and apply the principles to your future posts too.

Understand LinkedIn

Another important part of your LinkedIn content strategy is to understand how LinkedIn works. What kind of content does well on LinkedIn? How does the algorithm work? What kind of people are on there and what do they value?

An important aspect to note here is the use of links on LinkedIn. LinkedIn wants the users to stay on the platform as long as possible. So, when you post a link, LinkedIn doesn’t like that. The algorithm will pick it up and your post doesn’t rank well. You want to avoid that, as you want all your content to be visible and trending.

So, what can you do? Instead of external links, direct your users to other posts that are already on LinkedIn. Share valuable information with your audience but don’t send them to leave the site. This way, LinkedIn won’t punish you.
