7 Sales Tips To Multiply Your Sales

Why Sales Is A Dirty Word

Almost everyone has experienced a sleazy salesperson or two in their lifetime.

You know the ones.

They’re pushy and always trying to “get” you to buy whatever they’re selling.

Everyone hates to be sold, BUT they love to buy.

So it’s easy to see why most have a negative association with sales.

But as you may know, sales isn’t about getting anything.

It’s about helping your prospect solve their problems or achieve their goals.

Why No One Understands What You’re Selling

Before we get into the tactics etc, as you’re a coach, consultant, expert, trainer, or service professional, I feel this is important.

You’re selling a service which is tangible.

Your prospect can’t see or touch your service.

So it’s your job to communicate the value of what you’re selling so they become your client. 

This is what I call “selling the invisible value”.

And the best way to do this is by using the 3 P’s I talk about in the video below.

How To Turn Your Prospect Into The Salesperson

An important technique I teach my clients and mentees is that you must turn your prospect into the salesperson.

The key difference between a typical salesperson and a closer or sales pro, is the questions they ask.

In fact, typical salespeople ask very few questions, they merely talk at the prospect and rattle off a list of features and benefits and reasons why the prospect should buy.

A sales pro, asks the prospect discovery questions to find out why the two of them are even speaking in the first place.

The sales pro finds out their motivations for booking the call, what their problems and pains are, what their goals and aspirations are…

And once they’ve diagnosed the problem, if they think they can help, and they feel there’s a good fit, they’ll close them on their service.

Now there are countless questions you could ask your prospect, and if you need help in this area, you’re welcome to take one of my trainings on the Dan Lok Shop…

But I want to give you 5 very powerful questions I like to ask my prospects that give me vital info to use later in the call >>

When you ask the right questions the prospect automatically opens up and the more they talk, the more they realize why they need your product or service.

How To Redefine The Word S.A.L.E.S.

I saw a video on YouTube recently where the creator created an acronym for the word sales.

The words he used were Serve, Ask, Listen, Empathize, and Summarize, and it’s very true, [Name].

Your job is always to serve your prospects, and you can’t do that unless you ask the right questions, listen to the answers, empathize with them, and summarize their situation and repeat it back to them.

This shows you truly understand them and when they can tell you understand them, they’re far more likely to choose you as a solution to their problem.

KEY POINT: They won’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

5 Biz Mistakes You MUST Avoid

As you may know, I failed at 13 businesses before my first success…

So, it’s safe to say I’ve made more business mistakes than the average person.

In fact, most people would have given up after their first few failures, but I couldn’t afford to.

I had to take care of my mom, and by my 13th failure, I was $150K in debt.

I HAD TO MAKE SOMETHING WORK…

Or, I’d never pay my debts working for minimum wage.

So, as you’re a coach, consultant, expert, or trainer, I’m going to share with you 5  of the most common mistakes, that if avoided, you’ll have a very successful and minimal stress business.

So let’s dive in.

Not Having a Clear Client Outcome Or Solving A Specific Problem

Whether you’re just about to start your business or you’ve been in business for a while, let me ask you something.

Are you crystal clear on the problem you solve?

I know it can be tempting to want to solve many problems for many different people, as you think you’ll capture more of the market.

But the truth is, if you attempt to talk to everyone, you’ll talk to no one.

Let me give you an example.

In our Dragon 100™ program, we only work with coaches, consultants, experts, and trainers, etc.

We only accept business owners making at least $100K per year, and they come in at the Red Dragon level.

From there, they stay Red Dragons until they hit $1 million, where they become Black Dragons.

From there, they stay a Black Dragon until they hit $10 million and so on.

We know exactly who we’re targeting and at what level they are if they join us.

That’s the level of clarity you must have around your offer and your clients.

Why You Need Experience

This may not surprise you, but just taking an online course doesn’t qualify you to charge clients thousands of dollars to solve their problems.

The course has only given you the insights, and techniques to make things work.

You’ve got to get your feet wet and work with clients, either for free or for very little until you get some experience under your belt and you know without a doubt you can help people.

There are a lot of scam coaches out there that will happily take people’s money and promise the world but can’t deliver.

Don’t be one of them.

Why You Must Divest Emotionally From The Result Of Your Closing Calls

Have you ever been on a sales call with someone who was so invested in the outcome of the call you could feel their desperation?

How did you feel on the call?

Don’t forget, your prospect needs you more than you need them.

There’s no point in turning into a big green monster every time you get on a call.

Now, this may sound counter-intuitive, because you want to help them, and you want to apply as many closing techniques as needed in order to close them IF you think you’ll work well together…

But the vibe you want to give off, is you don’t care about the outcome.

If you work together, great…

If not, that’s OK too.

How To Get Clarity On Whether You’re a Coach Or Consultant

I see this happen often.

That is people thinking they’re a coach when they’re actually a consultant or vice versa.

So, what’s the difference?

I ask this question at my events and you’d be surprised by the answers I get.

The bottom line is, most people don’t know the difference.

Because, if you’re not clear on whether you’re a coach and consultant, there’s a good chance you could do your clients a disservice, which in turn affects your business in many ways.

Here’s an example…

If you think you’re a consultant, when you’re actually a coach, you may give your clients all the answers when they should be thinking for themselves and working things out with your guidance.

This in turn stifles their growth and while it may keep them in your business longer, they won’t see the results they desire.

This brings me to the next mistake.

Being Too Emotionally Attached To Your Clients Results

Yes, you should care about your clients and their results, but ultimately, it’s up to them to take action and the results they say they want.

As Morpheus says “I can only show you the door, you must walk through it.”

It’s your job to do everything in your power to give them the best chance of success.

If they’re simply not doing the work, then it doesn’t matter how hard you work, they’ll never succeed.

And in the event this happens, it’s not your fault.

Here’s a bonus mistake.

How To Stay In Charge After Your Client Gives You Money

I used to teach my clients this.

“Just because they give you money, doesn’t make you their little b*tch.”

You’re the boss, the problem solver.

Your clients must fit in with your schedule, not the other way around.

So, don’t bend over backwards to please them, do things on your terms.

Isn’t that why you got into business in the first place?

If something is legitimately urgent, that’s different, but most things aren’t that urgent, and you can get to them in your own time. 

There are many more mistakes we could cover, but I don’t want to give you too many things to work on.

I’m certain if you fix these if you’re making them or do your best to avoid them, you’ll see huge results in your business and personal life.

Why Your Comfort Zone Is Your Income Zone

This especially applies to closers because for some people talking to strangers is uncomfortable.

But, the more strangers they talk to, the more they’ll close, and the more money they’ll make.

It’s really that simple.

But what’s simple in theory isn’t simple in practice.

So, where are you stuck in your comfort zone in life and business?

The comfort zone has a way of sneaking up on you and keeping you there, unless you’re actively working to stay out of it.

In fact, around 80% of people avoid change even if that change is positive or beneficial.

So, you’re not alone.

Take note of things you’re comfortable with, and then devise a plan to get out of your comfort zone.

It’s likely you know what to do, you’re just not doing it.

For instance, everyone knows how to lose weight, but very few actually do it.

What Is Learned Helplessness?

My boss doesn’t want me to progress in my job.

You fill in the blank.

Of course, these are all real obstacles in their mind, but when it comes down to it, they’re looking for a scapegoat as to why they can’t change.

So if you’re in this position, recognize that some of the biggest companies like General Motors, IBM, Whatsapp, and many more started during a recession.

I’ve had mentees who worked a full time job with young kids and a family who transitioned from their job into full time closing positions.

If you want it bad enough you’ll find a way, if not, you’ll find an excuse.

Why The Path Of Least Resistance Is Best Left Alone

I get it, we all want success YESTERDAY.

We all want to take the easiest path to our destination.

But the easy path never brings you what you want and everything worthwhile takes time.

No one achieves success overnight.

Behind every success story are months and years of struggle, failure, and self-doubt.

But the important thing is you adjust your strategy as needed… fail forward… and never give up.

Why You Must Upgrade Your Beliefs

One of the biggest reasons more people don’t achieve their life goals is they have preconceived ideas about what’s possible for them.

If your mindset doesn’t grow, you’ll never grow, and to get what you want out of life, you must grow, wouldn’t you agree?

This is also true for you if you’ve already achieved some success.

What got you here won’t get you there.

Every level of success requires multiple mindset and skillset upgrades to get to the next level.

Some of the best ways to upgrade your mindset is by spending time with people who are decades ahead of you.

If you’re making $5K per month, you want to hang around people making $50K-$100K+ per month, not $10K per month.

My first mentor Alan let me spend time with him and his friends who all made multi-millions each year, and it expanded my thinking like nothing I’d ever experienced.

Why Progression > Perfection

When you first start out in anything, there’s a tendency to want things to be PERFECT.

You want to release the perfect video…

Have the perfect closing call…

Write the perfect sales page…

But in my opinion, perfection is paralysis.

You’ll never get anywhere if you strive for perfection.

What you’re looking for is progress.

As long as you progress a little bit each day, week, month etc, eventually you’ll look back on where you are now and barely recognize yourself.

I always say, “you can’t have quality without quantity.”

Remember, you don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going.

So make a start on your goals and reassess every 3-6 months to track your progress.

Why Your Environment Is More Powerful Than Your Willpower

If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know how powerful I believe your environment is.

It will truly make or break your success.

I’m sure you’ve heard the quote “You’re the average of the 5 people you hang around most.”

Now, there may not be any significance to the number 5, but you can be damn sure if your friends are coasting through life, you’ll end up doing the same.

On the flipside, if you had just 2-3 ambitious, driven, and committed friends all with similar goals and aspirations, my guess is your life would change pretty quickly.

So, where can you find people like this?

You could try various entrepreneurial meetup groups, or paid business events etc.

Why You Must Have More NON-NEGOTIABLES In Your Life

I was going to keep it to 5 enemies to success, but here’s a bonus.

Something I teach in my High Income Copywriter Certification™, is the idea of having non-negotiables in your life.

Most people simply don’t have enough non-negotiables in their lives.

This means, things you do every day without fail, that you know will improve your life.

For my mentees in HIC it was studying high converting marketing pieces every day and writing copy.

For you, it could be anything you believe will take your life to the next level.

So, what are the 2-3 things you’ll make time for every day no matter how busy you are?

Make a small list and make sure you do them every day without fail.
